Eli will never be Peyton, but I really think he is a good QB. The Giant's rookie CB Aaron Ross has been burnt and abused a few times this year, but I really liked him coming out of Terxas and think he will be a stud in time.
I agree with that. ross isn't the fastest CB out there...not slow....but he's not a burner(4.4). so he will get beat from time to time. but he definitely knows how to play that position. he should be a solid player.

Why not? Because Eli Manning is still Eli and most OL men can out run the Giant secondary in a foot race.
save GB and dallas, who else in the nfc would you clearly say is better than NY at this point? they beat washington, dominated philly(without westbrook). they played very well against dallas(for a while). I know....... not necessarily much to go by there. but that's the nfc for you. The afc is very unstable outside the top 3 teams as well. the nfl is hard to figure.
they do play the lions this week. that's a huge game.

And while their secondary does suck, their pass rush can make up for it much of the time. Also, they have the ability to come back from big deficets with Plaxico, who IMO is the second most dangerous reciever in football when close to healthy and Shockey who I rate as the second best TE. Brandon Jacobs, Ward and Droughns give them the deepest RB group in the NFL as well.
no doubt plaxico has been slowed by that ankle. shockey definitely is a top TE along with gates, gonzalez, witten, and a couple of others. manning needs to be a bit more consistent and they will get better. the secondary is a weakness for them. you can't totally judge them by the dallas game though. they had a lot on their plate.

I agree that Manning's big issue is consistancy. He seems somewhat downsyndrome or something. Looking at him I am really starting to wonder if he skipped HS and College and is only 16 or 17 right now.

Shockey is a stud. He is tough as nails, has great hands, and will destroy you after the catch. I rank him above Gonzalez because Tony is getting old, and Witten and Winslow because of his blocking.

I agree. I actually think witten is a great blocking TE as well. He did a great job in that game last week in the run and pass. I only saw one play where he missed a block, but it was against a HOF DE so I give him a pass there. romo does a great job of getting witten involved in the passing game. under parcells, before romo, witten was involved with a lot of pass protecting.

You may be right, but to be perfectly honest I hate Dallas so much I just cant bring myself to watch them very often. When I do it is only to see Barber run the ball. That boy is an animal.

Giants would

have the deepest RB depth in the NFL... maybe if it where not for a team called the San Diego Chargers.

Oh, on topic. Dallas or Green Bay? Don't care. Hope they both crash and burn.

hey Skorp

I'm with you on that. There are still a lot of games and even something very special called the playoffs where these two teams not called the Cardinals can crash and burn in style.

it's hard to say. there is a lot of season left. certainly if these two teams continue to improve like they have, those other nfc teams are going to have to step it up in a big way. sorry I did a double post and wanted to finish off the first one right.
