Only a poorly reffed game away from being 0-4.

The NCAA committee needs to get their collective noses out of ESPN/BIG Least butt and realize they aren't THAT GOOD.

Favorable seeding should have given the Big Least an 8-0 start. Instead, they got exposed. Notre Dame shouldn't even had made the tourney, let alone a gift 6 seed.

BIG LEAST SUCKS.

All conferences seem down this year. Baylor being a 3 seed says it all.

I don't think it is just the one conference. This is a whole season of parity/ mediocrity throughout the NCAA. There really are very few big men. The 3 pointer is the offense. No one pushes the ball.

Notre Dame suffered from Luke Harangoty disease. The guy scored 4 points, including the final gimme basket.

Overated compared to whom; The Big Ten?

In General.

With #1 seed, 2 #2 seeds, 2 #3 seeds, 2 #6 seeds and a #9 seed.

So, the NCAA is saying that 5 of the top 12 teams in the Nation were in the Big East, and 7 of the top 24.

I agree with Wally, lots of conference are down this year. The mid-najors are the ones that have really shown well.

The Big East was touted as "being down" before the beginning of the year, and they were; by their standards. Syracuse is probably the best team in the BE and everyone else is a tad below. Normally the Big East has 4 top 10 -15 teams. This year they really only have 2.

Still, if you look at their OOC record they are still the best of the major conferences in w/l percentage.

I'd still bet that Syracuse, Pitt, and WVU will be in the final 8...

The Big 12 is looking legit so far. The only team to lose, Texas, went out on a last second shot. Otherwise, they are 5-1 and weren't seriously threatened at the end in any of them. Oklahoma St is the last to play against Georgia Tech.

NBA defections are finally taking their toll. Lots and lots of talent that, 20 years ago, would have been in this tournament.

the bottom half of a loaded conference lost. the top 4 won. calling us the big least is laughable. We'll see how this thread looks at the end of the tourney...

You mean the 2nd quarter of the conference. Bottom half (i.e teams 9-16) really stunk.

And yes, overrated. When the conference gets the seeds it did, it is overrated.

nova was for sure overrated, even though i had them going to the finals (stupid)

and Dback Jon you may have a point about the Big East, all im saying is that calling them the big least and saying the conference sucks is a little much. Overrated could be argued because some people were calling it the best conference in a while.

Lots of solid coaches can build solid teams and play smothering defense, the players that can beat that, the best guards and the best big men as Wally said aren't staying in the college game.

The Big Twelve just flamed out with KU, no one else in it is going to actually win the whole thing, K State is the best left and they might make it to the final 4 but that's it IMO.

The way the two pac teams are playing I think they could have gotten at least two of those spots that were given to the big east teams.

Speaking of St. Mary's, when is Randy Bennett going to get a big job? Combine his ability to recruit Australia and the clout of a major conference program and you could be talking about a elite-level program. I thought ASU should've hired him over Sendek a few years ago and he's probably where UA would've ended up had Sean Miller said no.

I have first dibs on him for Miami.

I can see other teams getting in but not from the pac 10. ASU has nobody to blame but themselves they lost to Stanford and then lost in the first round of the NIT. UA was the next team(#4) but 16-15 first round loss in the conference tournament to a sub .500 team no way they deserved a bid. There are several other teams I'd take ahead of either of them.

He's a terrific judge of talent too, seems to really have an eye for sleepers.

He may not want to leave some people like the smaller school but he can certainly coach that's for sure.

He'll leave at some point, money does talk. He wanted the ASU and UA jobs in recent years.

He said no to Oregon State but that was because he probably didn't think he could win there.

Sure but remember when everyone thought Few would leave Gonzaga any day now(he'll probably leave for Oregon now to prove me wrong)? Gonzaga reached a point where they weren't a surprise anymore, they were good every year, and Few seems to have become happy where he is because of that?

If Bennett can have that similar success at St. Mary's he may prefer being very good in a small pond, there's less pressure than he'd see at a bigger conference school? I mean if he has a losing season next year nobody at St. Mary's is going to say his job is in jeopardy, but are some bigger schools where the fans are just unwilling to let the coach have a bad year.

I can see him going either way, I assume has the connections that he could still do the recruit Australia stuff at a bigger school, just would be able to recruit the US better too.
