Jonathan Gannon says rookie CB Elijah Jones is “doing well” and will return this season. He hasn’t debuted yet due to a heel injury from preseason.
Is Clark or Blount the odd man out in the secondary when Jones is back? Probably Blount as he probably makes it back in the PS. They both play STs too.

whats big money?
Top runningbacks are getting 15 mil a season right now.
15 for 1 year would be Ok I guess. My issue is guaranteeing money for more than 1 year. RB's fall off a cliff and we can't afford to be stuck with dead money on a position we can replace with at least 80% of the production for a tenth of the price.

We have peanuts allocated to the position. Conner doesn't rely on speed just brute strength. I'm fine going 3 years with an out after 2.

I think you let both of them finish this year and test the market. Then bring Budda back on a 4 year- top 10 safety contract and Conner a 2 year top 10 rb contract.

I’m stoked about the turn of events- but this team still has mega holes to fill and can make the impact way bigger in other positions.

I'd be satisfied with saying goodbye to SMB if it meant salvaging a roster space. We've done just fine without him.
$14 million in dead money to cut him during the season. That SK type of stuff. Blount is a JAG. SMB is an ok to decent CB in the NFL and a veteran. Hes the only veteran of the CBs. He has value on and off the field.

Agree. You can't overpay and have to let them walk at some point. You have to trust the young guys will step into the leadership roles.
Buddha isn't likely accepting a 1-2 year deal. Conner, maybe.
Yup. Give JC a good frontloaded contract that the team can get out of after a year, two tops. On a side note, Benson has looked really good recently.

3 year for James Conner 8-10 million per; 4 year deal for Budda at 10-13 per. Third priority is obviously Trey McBride, less urgent but just as important.
Sheer lunacy, unless they are paper years--years we can easily get out of. There's every chance he falls off a cliff very soon due to age.

I'm a negative on the market testing.
Letting other teams negotiate your deals is bush league.

A good organization knows their players values and what they are willing to pay.
You make an offer. If the player counters then you negotiate if your in the same ballpark...if the gap is too wide then you move on to someone else.

For JC I was thinking something like 3 years, maybe 26 mil...15mil guaranteed, third year is a void year.
Essentially 2 years @13m per but the void year stretches the cap hit on the signing bonus.
Then next season start balancing the load towards Benson to keep Conner fresh, shift him to a more specialized role in 26

That’s a lot of cash for running back by committee

Sounds like they want to let the rookies play and are already looking to next year.

Thats pretty crazy maybe something is coming down the pipe from the league that has yet to be disclosed? They clearly aren't out of the running in this division??

You can absolutely lose on the bye week all jokes aside.

Ask the Seahawks if they won the bye week after the Cardinals dominated the Jets and the 49ers found a way to win.

The Hags play the Whiners. We really can't lose there. You might say we need Seattle to win, but no we really don't. I would rather not play Seattle who has their confidence back. The Niners go to Green Bay when we play Seattle.

The Rams are going to lose tonight and then go to NE where I would not be a bit surprised if they lose also.

A quietly important piece of the Cardinals recent success: RG Trystan Colon. In 5 1/2 games since Will Hernandez's season-ending injury, he's allowed zero sacks and just five pressures. Also hasn't committed a single penalty this year.

Someone is going to sign Colon to start next year. He's been really solid. Will be someone else's Evan Brown.

On the plus side the Niners play the Seahawks, so one of them is losing.

Rams have the Pats and the Pats seem to be getting better.
