The Cardinals are apparently interested in Baker Mayfield

So, if “make it happen” ends up costing two 1s, two 2s, and a player to Betcher’s liking, let’s just say Markus Golden for the sake of a name, and maybe another 3, are you going to be happy Kiem made it happen? Because that’s what it’s going to take.

Now, if he drops to the Bears or Bucs pick, just maybe it will be semi reasonable.
None of these qbs are worth the example you laid out. That would be insane.

I've seen all these already. There's much more that has happened here in Norman that got swept under the rug. Maybe he'll grow up but I doubt it. Good luck to him wherever he goes, hopefully not Arizona.
I will concede that I heard Skip Bayless say he has sources that say Baker does like to party, I do hope if he ends up in ARZ he’s mature enough to not let it affect him on the practice field and more importantly on game day. I don’t hate him or dislike him like you but I do see some of your concerns.

McShay on ESPN thinks ARZ moves up to #10 to take Mayfield, duh he won’t make it past MIA. I wonder what MIA does with Tanneyhil, didn’t they sign him to a new deal recently? I heard they are trying to include him in a deal to move up but no one wants him.

I understand Keim not moving up to 2 or 4 for one of these guys, but if any one of the top 4 starts to slide, Keim is doing himself a disservice by missing out once again. Maybe they do like Baker, and if that is the case, you have to move if he drops to 6 or 7.

He keeps having QBs poached out from under his nose--he will NOT trade up in the 1st for a QB. We have the evidence for that.

I don't know why Tannehill is so criticized. I don't get the impression that people are worried about his injury that cost him 2017. But, we're talking about a QB that in 13 games in 2016 was completing 67% of his passes, 7.7 ypa, 4.9 TD%, 93.1 rating. For a pretty shaky Dolphins team.

He may not be Johnny Unitas but those are some pretty solid numbers.

"Let's get rid of our first round picks because we've been terrible at drafting in the first round!"
"But Keim will surely pick the right QB... in the first round!"

See where this logic breaks down?

My point is that, if we stink at using our first round picks under normal circumstances, why not take a chance and use them to move up to draft a player that might lead us to a championship?

Because we've been "bad" (honestly, the statistics say we're right at the NFL average) at picking in the later half of the round.

I don't think we'll be "bad" at selecting players when they're in the top 5, instead of the late 20s.

Tannehill came from the old regime (Philbin/Ireland). Gase does not like him. When he elected to reject surgery he lost the better part of 2 seasons. Didn't exactly endear himself to new regime.

Ummmm Coop at #7? He was a mighty fine player lol :mulli:

Or you just gave us a reason to pick Baker at #5 lol Gotcha

Fair enough as to why he might not remain in Miami but I was talking about general perception. From what I've seen, fans don't think much of him but the numbers say he's pretty good.

Coop was a poor choice, but everyone drafted poorly in the top 10 that year. Hell, most of that round.

But he's the only time we've ever had a chance to draft in the top 10 in the Keim era. That most of our first rounders aren't superstars isn't all that surprising.

I am very iffy on Mayfield, he may work out or he may be the next Manziel. If the jets take Allen or Rosen at 3, I still think Mayfield will go by 5 or 6 through trade. Honestly I am hoping Rosen slides and that is who the Cardinals end up with, but based on the buzz they seem to only seriously be interested in Darnold and Mayfield.

I am 1000% against Josh Allen. That guy has bust written all over him.

As long as it isn't Jackson....

Better be 100% right if you trade up due to the cost. I don't believe SK has the stones to trade up in round 1.

The 2013 draft was one of the worst draft classes of all time. That first round had more busts than a collection of playboy magazines.
