We will not draft a QB in round 1. In fact Ill be shocked if we do in any round.

I think you're affinity for Josh clouds your mind here a little Shane. I wouldn't be shocked by ANYTHING Dennis Green does and considering that our back-up QB right now(Josh) was demoted to third string at one point last year, it's not out of the question that we draft a QB anywhere in the draft.

My affinity doesnt cloud it anymore than your obsession against him does for you.

Of course nothing is out of the question. But to me the writing is on the wall. Read tyrestuds post it mirrors what I think. IMO we wont be taking a flier on a QB.

I don't have any obsession against hijm - I'm all for having him as our back-up Shane - I think he's perfect for it. I just read the writing on the wall and I see the rumors spreading about us loving Alex Smith from sources who actually broke the Okey story - that's all. That and the fact that he WAS demoted to third string, we brought in a very high priced QB and Denny already has one of his guys in there and even got him on the field last year(take a step back and look at the scenario - say it was on a different team - what would you think the chances were for that QB long term on that club?)

Honestly not very good. With the high tender to Josh and coupled with the fact that Green gave Navarre as a 7th round rookie the chance to start I honestly feel he thinks he has theyoung talent he needs and can develop. Smith to me is just as much a project even though he is touted this high.

I'd be shocked if G&G went QB with the 8. Here's why;
1. How many times in Minnesota did Green draft a QB the first day? I honestly don't know the answer to the question but I'm guessing the answer is ONCE. More often than not he fixed the QB position in free agency. He's done that w/ Warner.

Another way to look at that is how many times did he have an opportunity to draft a top QB. One of the other times he had to draft a QB in the 1st round he did. I don't think he's going to avoid a particular position. If Smith is their highest rated available when we pick that's who we'll take, if not we'll draft someone else.
