In my opinion, the time has come for the Cardinals to do something they haven't done for a long time, make a trade! They need to trade for a viable starting defensive end.

If memory serves, when the Cardinals acquired Rob Moore, it cost them a 1st round draft pick. I would hope that could be the case again if the decision was made to trade for a stud DE. Preferably next years 1st, but if needs be this years 1st round pick will have to be dealt!

I, like most, want the Cardinals to take a D-Lineman with their first pick this year. I would really enjoy seeing Suggs don the Cardinal red! But the draft is always a crap-shoot. And while D-Lineman develop relatively quickly, and make impacts sooner than most positions, the Cardinals cannot wait. There has been a slight positive change in the perception of the Cardinals as an organization since they signed Emmit. But that did nothing to lure Vonnie Holliday into the fold. Please allow me to emphasize this:

THE CARDINALS NEED TO ADDRESS THE DEFENSE IN SOME WAY BEFORE THE DRAFT!

An impact player must be brought in to continue the positive change in perception that Emmitt brought here...and no Seau, we need someone who is at or near the top of their game...

And now, I suggest something that will probably get most of the members here fighting mad. It is only an idea for conversation, so please no death threats! In my opinion, there can be no untouchables on their roster at this point...

If possible: The Cardinals should trade their 2004 1st round pick & Marcel Shipp to the Titans for Kevin Carter.

I like the idea, but man, I wouldn't do it for Kevin Carter.

I said on another thread the #6 straight up for Grant Wistrom (yes, I am a total Husker homer).

What about Jevon Kearse? I heard about a month ago the Titans were thinking about dealing him, because they did not want to pay him the money on his contract and he would not renegociate or something like that. Sure he has been hurt, but he is still pretty young and would really improve this defense. How about our #1 and #4 for Kearse and #1 (#28 )

That would, in my opinion, turn the trick! My only concern is that the Cardinals, much like it is with free agents, would have to "overspend" to make another team pull the trigger on a deal.

As for Winstrom, I agree Section! But the Cardinals would have to give up something the Rams want, which reminds me of what I think when I walk through K-Momo with one of the kids: "There's absolutely nothing in here I want."

I like him, but his foot injury is pretty up in the air. They're hoping to have him back for maybe a preseason game, but realistically he's gonna be back game one at the very earliest.

Cardinals.Ken???? The Titans are wishing they had'nt traded their first round pick for Kevin Carter back two years ago. Why would we trade for him?? He's done nothing. I would'nt trade Marcell Shipp for him straight across. let lone with our 1st rd pick next year. Like 11 said good Idea....But not for kevin Carter....Grant Wistrom either;)

Whom would you suggest?

I'm not a Carter "backer" by stretch of the imagination, but he is an impact player that would immediately upgrade our defensive line, and Shipp would fit right into the Titans offensive scheme filling in for the oft injured Eddie George.

Trust me, I would hate to see Shipp go, but as I stated previous, the Cardinals will have to overspend to get anybody good, and Shipp is the Cardinals most martketable player right now...

On paper at least, he's been pretty productive over his career. Maybe some of Tennessee's reservations are based on his two sack year two years ago, but he followed that up with a 10 sack season last year.

His stats were much better than I had originally thought.

I think Tennessee's biggest problem was that when they traded for Carter, they expected him and "The Freak" to go off and get 40 or so sacks between them...In my opinion, Carter can still ball!

Ok I must ask why would any of you trade Shipp at all???

If you want to send the Titans something why not DJ or Wakefield a DE plus the first rounder in place of Kearse???

Sorry but getting rid of Shipp would be plain stupid!

NO WAY TO KEVIN CARTER!

He certainly deserves a chance at least to see what he can do behind this line.
Well, he did until Mac announced Smith as the starter, with nary a sweaty 2003 jock in the team hamper...

problem is that every DE that would warrant such a trade are under contract. Strahan, Kearse, Jason Taylor,John Abraham. There are some other talented players whom are unfortunatly playing behind very solid people. I would'nt mind entertaining trade talks for jamal reynolds GB, javor Mills Jax, Bryan Thomas NYJ, Adrain Dingle SD, or Carlos Hall tenn. All imo are upgrades over what we've got (pass rush assessment only) None would require 1st rd pick compensation. 3rd or 4th rounders. Soory not posting fast enough saw more comments & had to come in and edit:D If Carter can still ball!!!! Why while Kearse was injured did he not establish himself as the man??? I think He's borderline BUM!! o.k....maybe not a BUM...,but He's playing in every defensive ends dream, an attacking style Defense Buddy Ryan's 4-6. Right now he's better that Wakefield & KVB...slightly.....not for anybody's #1 especially my CARDINALS.....

Blockbuster Trade: Arizona sends #6 pick and * Chris Dishman to the New York Jets for DE John Abraham and the Jets' #22 pick. Both teams get what they want. The Jets want to move up to #6 to select WR Andre Johnson. They need a guard badly and Dishman is a capable starter. Plus they get to hold on to their #13 pick. Dealing Abraham is feasible for the Jets because sitting right behind him on the depth chart is last year's first round pick DE Bryan Thomas, whom they liken to Abraham in the first place. DE Shawn Ellis is solid on the other side.

Arizona gets an excellent pass rusher in Abraham and at #22 they can still get another pass rusher, possibly McDougle, Sullivan, Haynes, Kelsay, Joseph, Peterson, or Warren. The signings of Raleigh Roundtree and Cameron Spikes would facilitate trading Dishman. As it stands, Dishman wouldn't start anyway.

Marketable??? Trade them Emmitt if you want to trade them someone "marketable" If you want to send them someone with the most talent then I agree Shipp would be the man!

But I would say players such as Wilson, Starks, many on the O-line, and KVB would have just as much value as Shipp!

Don't think anyone is going to give us what Shipp is worth in a trade - and I think he's worth a lot! At the very least a late first round pick. I do think he is that good, and we have him signed to a very reasonable contract for the next (three years?) I think.

Shipping Emmitt (no pun intended :D ) would be much more paletable than sending away Shipp, but we both know that is not going to happen. Trading away any of our defensive players would be counter productive, in my opinion.

Which O-Line would would be ok to send to someone? LJ Shelton would be my #1 choice, since it would allow Davis to move over to LT.

If I had to choose, I woudl rather trade LJ than Shipp...

I would say that you could trade them Dishman much like Walters scenario. He is starting material!

I dunno if I would part with LJ he was best all around OL last year and played with a Lions heart through the serious ankle injury!

It just depends on what D player you would trade because our most glaring weakness if pass rush if we could fix that it might be worth it???

I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying that the Cardinals have to trade away their best players. I'm saying that we need a DE that is proven and come in and kick some major butt from the start. If any team that was willing to deal with the Cardinals would be willing to accept a "lesser" player (like a Dishman) to pull off a trade of this magnitude, would I support it? Hell yes! My only contention is that other teams see our situation as an opportunity to exploit us.

How about one EJ Henderson at #22?

I think good DE are found in rounds 2 and 3 on a regular basis. I am still not so sure I would not take one of the two big interior DL that may be available. A DE is usually not much better than the interior lineman that collapse the pocket. The DE gets the glory but the big guys inside do the heavy lifting.

That is excatly why I believe the Cards need to trade for a legit playmaking madman at end! Draft a big-body to put next to Bryant in the first round.
