There is a family friend on an another site who says that Carson is having problems with his index finger; pain, grip related to accuracy. Stay tuned.

there is this thing....called Vicodin....will help him forget about the finger for a couple hours if it is an issue.
but that is a good rumor to get spreading...make the pack think we aint gonna pass on'em..............

Funny thing about the original prediction: of the three teams picked not to make the playoffs, two are the top two seeds in the NFC and a third is battling for a top 2 seed in the AFC

I added the defensive ranks for those teams. I hope that the fact that they averaged 20th in overall defensive efficiency and 26th in pass defensive efficiency will shed some light on my argument that Palmer put up good stats against pretty below-average opponents. Like practically bottom-of-the-league bad.

I'm guessing that the 15-game stretches for other QBs wouldn't look as good because Palmer this time lucked out of facing the toughest opponents that his team had to match up with that season.

I guess the way that I see it is that Palmer's 13-2 run between 2013 and 2014 is a lot like the Cards' 11-2 run between 2011 and 2012. Those kinds of things happen in the NFL, but they may not be particularly meaningful—or repeatable.

Palmer is now 28 & 8 in his Cardinal career...

The friend says that it's not a pain thing. He can handle it. They think there's tendon damage in the index and while he can probably play, the pressure point on the ball and resulting accuracy may be in question.

If he has a problem it's with the ball sailing high. A bad index finger will make that worse. Some QB's can struggle with that injury. We will see. He's a good vet he will figure it out IMO.

To further expound, those 3 teams are a combined 37-5 and one is undefeated.

Best solution for this? Pound the rock against a terrible run D and take pressure off Palmer AND the D, keeping Rodgers off the field.

Wow.

To go back and read this thread has been a treat. I think what we can see now, is that Palmer found the right offense for his skill set. What we saw from year one to year two wasn't just luck, but it was the natural progression of a good QB in a good offense. The Cardinals just needed a few more good players here and there for this offense to take off.

I think the critics were guilty of a bit of recency bias, as well as not paying attention to the actual games and burying their noses in stats. Palmer struggled a bit in year one, but we were beginning to see the results in year two.

DVOA indicates a low percentage of that happening, or cooked below recommended temperature.

Fwiw: maybe a month ago, 98.7 had him on and he ate crow -- to the point where he was calling the Cards his Super Bowl favorite.

Palmer 13-2 this year and healthy, that's all I care about.

Who thought he'd be this exceptional after an ACL last year? He's been unbelievable. Without him...I shudder to think. He's been so good. His movement in the pocket is sick. I hesitate to say this, but I can't think of another pocket QB in the NFL right now with better movement inside the pocket, and who regularly reforms the pocket, than Carson Palmer. I realize Cam is going to win MVP, but the technical work of Palmer inside that pocket is old school and so very hard to master. I'm talking about his feet, his arm is a whole 'nother post, but my gosh. He's been phenomenal.

Have to give credit to CP for all the hard work he has put in to come back from the injury and refine his pocket game. Very impressive

Palmer now 29 & 8 as a Cardinal... But mainly because he hasn't played anyone yet...;)

Palmer is 4-1 against playoff teams this season. Need a bigger sample size, I guess.

Going back through this thread, it's so nauseating how some would look through every crack and crevice to find a way to bring this team and its players down.
