Shouldn't that make it more acceptable rather than less?

You don't always change just because someone does it better. That can be one of the reasons, but it breaks up continuity. I didn't think KH was bad enough to warrant a change.

If you are out to make the best movie you can possibly make, you have to accept that there may be changes. It could have been something where KH decided not to be in the movie, or Nolan decided he didn't want her. There could be any number of reasons.

And Katie Holmes being "good" in the first movie is definitely subjective. I personally don't think she was very "good" at all in the first movie. Certainly not believable as an assistant DA.

She wasn't bad either. Just not believable as an assistant DA. If they had kept her as just the ex-girlfriend and not tried to make her an assistant DA, I could have bought that much more.

Its a movie Chap and she was just as believable as Gyllenhal. And my point was besides the continuity of the first film, KH is believable as an assistant DA that a rich powerful guy WOULD ACTUALLY BE IN LOVE WITH! Not some half ass kind of sort off decent looking girl, why the hell can't the Assistant DA be a hot girl? Really?

That's the problem. KH was nowhere near as believable as MG. Katie came off like some ex-high school girlfriend with a crush. Not an assistant DA by any stretch. She had known Bruce since they were kids. So you didn't need to make her an Assistant DA to establish the connection between characters.

There is nothing wrong with finding a hot girl was some really strong acting skills. There are very few and KH is not one of them. Given a choice, I would take a less attractive character with strong acting skills then the other way around. If Rachel's character was really about eye candy then they would have had her parading around in underwear or a swimsuit for a scene or two.

I don't know. I think George Clooney, er, Val Kilmer...I mean Michael Keaton, oh, sorry, Adam West...yeah, Adam West might not really fit the part anymore.

You don't have to but you can. If you can, then I don't see why not. KH wasn't awful but MG was better. It doesn't break up continuity when actors change. It breaks up continuity for me if the character goes through a radical change.

Continuity changes alone won't stop me from seeing movies. I love all of the Bond movies for example. I love The Dark Knight. I would have just rathered KH than MG because of that continuity.

It would for me depending on the depth of the change. In this case I didn't miss KH at all and thought MG was great. When I find myself being into the character regardless of who the actor is, there is no continuity issue.

I guess it all depends on ones point of view on continuity.

And, for the record, I'm all for people having different opinions. But most people don't come across as abrasive as you do when they talk about them. You're talking in absolutes again, leaving no room for others to have their opinion. Plus, by capping the shallow portion of your offending post (seriously, how could someone with money like a girl that looks like MG...yukkers), you didn't do yourself any favors in the nice-guy department.
