Please let that not be true. I haven't seen this yet, but if MG is worse than KH, this show is doomed. KH was turrible.

As bad as people as KH was, I would have rather'd it for story continuity.

Two different people playing the same character........wait, I thought we aren't allowed to compare the two. :)

Chap I won't say it because KH would have been better! At least she is attractive and since she played her character good in the first one, it would have been WAY better had she played the same part in this one IMHO. Sorry just having an ugly girl play the part that guys are supposed to be all in love with was just silly.

I'm sorry, but saying that a pretty girl with marginal talent vs. a more realistically looking woman with huge talent is preferred is borderline ridiculous.

Continuity, sure, that's always an issue. But Maggie is light years ahead of where Katie Holmes is acting-wise--and IMO based on that, the change was a good decision.

And again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder--you think she's ugly. Fine. Luckily for the movie, the producers didn't base the character on superficial middle-aged men. ;) j/k

Katie Holmes was the weak link in that last movie in terms of cast. She was outclassed in that movie. MG is a much better actress and did a much better job as the character Rachel. Great casting move IMO.

Yes, Katie was easier on the eyes but I don't think this is the type of movie where they were looking to provide eye candy to the audience aside from the special FX.

To me the casting of Katie Holmes was barely only one tier better then the casting of Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. I didn't buy that casting decision and I didn't by Katie as a DA assistant.

PS. I would love to see the Riddler as the next bad guy but I think the character is similar in some ways to the Joker. So I think they will go with maybe the Penguin? The Riddler would be my choice though.

^ Umm to each his own but Gyllenhal is NOT good looking think you need to look again.
Man, you really rub me the wrong way. I don't like you--or rather, I don't like the way you try to make your points. It's abrassive.

Don't you think beauty might be subjective?

Wow, 4 pages about how Gyllenhaal isn't attractive enough to play the part? I don't think she's a 10, but she's definitely not bad on the eyes.

Finally saw this. I give it an IMDB 8/10. MG is attractive to me, mostly because of her attitude. Shouldn't we assume the Joker will still be around since he is just left hanging there? What about Catwoman as the next villian? When Wayne asks if the new armor is dog proof and Fox responded with something about being "cat proof", that was def foreshadowing in my book.

No, I totally missed that too. Good catch Beaver. I never thought of her as being evil enough to base a movie around, but it would be interesting.

To me, the big reason why I liked the Dark Knight was because it was, well....dark. Which, the Joker was perfect for. The Cat Woman always struck me as a high class thief. While the Joker wanted to cause mayhem and violence, which gives the film a great edge.

I think the Riddler could work as well. Die Hard 3, with it's flaws, kind of had a Riddleresque bad guy, which could work.

Also, the mayor seemed to have a ton of eyeliner on...... Could he be the Riddler?

wow. cool. Thanks.

It's a quick read, so I recommend if you're at all interested in Batman villains (The Batman only appears for 2 panels), read "Joker's Asylum: The Penguin." It's really well written.

EDIT: I downloaded one of them to see what it looked like, but it's an unknown file type (.cbr). How do I open it?

I could see catwoman making a definite appearance - not sure if she could carry drama for the whole movie though

maybe a catwoman / two face angle where catwoman is mingling in high social circles and then robbing them blind and gets drawn into Bruce who is a little lost in the love department after Rachels death

meanwhile, two face is running rampant trying to cause as much pain as possible to gordon/batman for the wrongs that they have done .......... maybe even targeting bruce for his interest in rachel - just angry at life type of stuff

with both of them getting dangerously close to discovering that bruce is batman and going after him directly

hmmm yep Gyllenhal still not pretty, on the other hand KH is and would have been better if not just to have the same people playing the same characters that were good in the first movie.

If you are out to make the best movie you can possibly make, you have to accept that there may be changes. It could have been something where KH decided not to be in the movie, or Nolan decided he didn't want her. There could be any number of reasons.

And Katie Holmes being "good" in the first movie is definitely subjective. I personally don't think she was very "good" at all in the first movie. Certainly not believable as an assistant DA.

Its a movie Chap and she was just as believable as Gyllenhal. And my point was besides the continuity of the first film, KH is believable as an assistant DA that a rich powerful guy WOULD ACTUALLY BE IN LOVE WITH! Not some half ass kind of sort off decent looking girl, why the hell can't the Assistant DA be a hot girl? Really?

I actually agree with you nashman. I think that continuity is important.

I don't know. I think George Clooney, er, Val Kilmer...I mean Michael Keaton, oh, sorry, Adam West...yeah, Adam West might not really fit the part anymore.

If you can get someone better, you do. They did.

Maybe they couldn't get KH off the spaceship?

We aren't talking about the main character, we are talking about a supporting character.

That's like saying there should have never been another Batman if you thought Michael Keaton was the best Batman and he was unable or unwilling to do another movie.

You don't always change just because someone does it better. That can be one of the reasons, but it breaks up continuity. I didn't think KH was bad enough to warrant a change.
