Shams saying we’re effectively out
As far as I'm concerned we've always been effectively out. They reportedly set the minimum at multiple young star level players in addition to a Gobert-sized collection of draft picks. IOW, they wanted the assets we could get from trading Ayton, Saric, and Crowder plus all our picks and swaps plus Bridges and CamJ. And even then the deal wouldn't have taken place until they were sure no on was going to offer a better pair of young players than Mikal and Cam Johnson.

Thats kind of what Shams says. He said once the Suns matched Ayton's offer sheet and became unable to trade him for at least a year that the Suns were out of the equation.

We can't beat a deal centered around Brown but apparently Boston offered Brown and Derrick White plus picks and then Brooklyn countered asking for Marcus Smart with Jaylen Brown and another rotation player plus picks.

Brooklyn is off their rocker if they think they'll get that much and Boston would be crazy to do that.

Definitely starting to feel like I’ve lost a lot of interest in the possibility. You have to hope that the chemistry will be good with the team and you know what you get and you hope everyone improves slightly. Run it back. Maybe see if you can switch out a few of the role players. Everyone should be fairly motivated to push over the hump you’d think

I don't know if it can be done, but I'd like to get Derrick White in a spinoff trade if the Suns are out of the Durant sweepstakes.

The Celtics trade offer is likely weeks old.

If Boston wants to go into that territory, let them go.

Sometimes the decisions that are not made are the best ones.
Boston making that deal wouldn't be bad but I'd rather see GS or Memphis meet Brooklyn's insanse demands.

I don't think the front offices of those teams walk down that alley and wisely so.

The Suns can bundle some of those assets they were offering for Durant and make a trade now or later at the trade deadline to improve the team. The key is knowing when to pull-out of the chase and not do anything desperate.

If it happens, I hope the Suns start looking at spinoff trades.

Memphis trading for Durant is terrifying, IMO. They could do it without gutting their team. If they decided to deal JJJ and Brooks plus a boatload of picks that salary swap works. KD would open up the floor for Ja and give Ja a true star to count on. No thanks!

If Memphis gets KD I blame you for speaking that into reality.

Adrian Wojnarowski says Boston is not closer to acquiring Durant than anybody else in a deal with the Nets.

I think Memphis is a problem for us going forward as it is. But I don't think JJJ and Brooks gets it done. Brooks is a good role player with nagging injuries so I don't think they'd view him much differently than they would our filler (Crowder).

I think they'd expect JJJ, Bane and probably a 3rd player given that none of them are the all star they've demanded. And if they trade JJJ, Bane and Brandon Clarke or Tyus Jones, Durant will need to be at his best to even come close to making up for that loss. And if he isn't, that immediately drops them below Pelicans territory IMO and with no draft picks they're not likely to improve enough to hang onto Morant when his next contract comes up.

So yeah, on the off chance my typing it moves it into reality, I have this to say to you:
Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. Memphis should trade for Durant. :)

He tweeted this... Smh.

That could easily just mean he thinks the rumor of him being offered in trade is a lie.

Gotta say if these players are going to tweet cryptic phrases I wish they would just not tweet at all.

Yeah I as thinking the same thing. He could be reacting to the media reports or he could be reacting to Boston offering him in trade. I tend to believe the former.

I wouldn't be happy either. Honestly? Brown looked more like a go to player when the Celtics needed buckets verses Tatum. Even the commentators during games kept commenting that Tatum just couldn't get it going when they needed him too. Brown on the other hand seemed really timely when the Celtics needed him to be.

It's hard to believe the Celtics would offer up Jaylen Brown in trade. I view him as untouchable.

John Gambadoro thinks it's unlikely the Nets would trade Durant to the rival Celtics.

Again, I know people will think I am crazy but after watching the playoffs I trade Tatum before Brown. Not that I am saying they should trade either.

That makes sense, but if the Nets don't think they will be in position to contend in the next 2 years or so, I'm not sure that would be as big an issue.
