The Eagles game proved one thing.

It proved that the doubt that has surrounded this team's good record is justified. It is hard to go looking for respect, and to tout this team as a contender when they play like that on a national stage. The Cardinals played right into what everyone is saying about them, and are grouped with the Lions, and Seahawks with yesterdays' Turkey Day massacres.

After the Jets game, it was stated that the Cardinals are as good as they looked against the Dolphins and Cowboys, and are as bad as they looked against the Jets.

Couple that with the fact that is is hard to prove that the Cardinals are a "good team" when every time they are on the national stage this year they choke, or turn in a sub-average performance.

After last night I am off my high horse and back to where I was as a fan of this team during week 5.

This team will still have 9 to 10 wins, and make the playoffs. Which is good. But what happens during the playoffs is another story. We could get slaughtered like last night, or we can bring our A-game and win a close one.

Thank goodness the Cardinals and its fans have 10 days till the next game, because this was an embarrassing loss for all involved. Come back, MURDER the Rams. Take the division and work harder as a team to get better as a team. Cause right now this kind of effort is not going to cut it.

Time to change the avatar....that is for sure.

Oh, and I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and that PACardsfans ultimate sled team is OK.

Edit: It also proved another thing......some people only stop by ASFN when things are bad. There are people I have not seen a post from in a month that are all over this board with complaints. :D Kinda funny.

They are what they are...very similar to the 98 playoff team. That year they struggled beating decent teams. The eaked into the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Then they stunned everyone with a road playoff win vs. the Cowboys. They got destroyed in Minnesota and the rest is history. I am gonna ride this season out. I will enjoy the home playoff game (my first ever). Whatever the outcome of the season I have accepted my original conclusion about this team. It is an average NFL team in a horrible division. This team is capable of beating almost anyone at home..and capable of losing to almost anyone on the road. This team is too 1 dimensional to be a real SB threat. I think most of us were hoping to be proved wrong but they are what we thought they were. This is a process. The Cards are improved over last year. This offseson we will need to see if the Cards can take the next step forward. The have to address the lack of a run game...it's is just killing this team. Still alot of uncertainty concerning the offseason. Will Boldin, Dansby, Warner still be with this team next year?

To be fair the Cards have beaten both the weak teams they played on the road this year in SF and Seattle.

That is why I said almost..the Cards handily beat the Rams and Niners but struggled a bit with the Seahawks. If the Cards manage to finish 3-1 or even 2-2 then preseason expectations will have been met. If the Cards finish 1-3 or 0-4 then the season is a bust given the 7-3 start.

Some very good posts....team is improving but we have a way to go.....game proved we cannot beat good to excellent DC's with a one dimensional offense.

I said in another thread that we have one more chance to prove to the masses that we are legit: Week 16 @ New England. Win there and this team gets that proverbial monkey off their back that they cant be quality teams on the road on the east coast. Lose there and our playoff outlook is very bleak I hate to say.

But what are Cards' fans motto around this time? "theres always next year."

I would disagree to some degree...I think the Cards can lose in NE but win a Playoff game(even at home) and get some degree of respect...if the Cards eek into the playoffs and get spanked at home then yes...I would agree

This team is better than last year. This team is improving and headed in the right direction. We are wiinning games we are expected to win. We are beating division opponents at home and on the road.

We have 5 losses against teams with a combined record of 39-16. The teams we have loss to have a combined winning pct of over 70 pct.....SEVENTY PERCENT.

It's not like we are losing to the Lions or Raiders like we have in the past.

We may not be in the same class with the upper echelon of the league quite yet, but I think we are the point if any of those teams doesn't show up with their "A" game we have a chance to beat them.

The Eagles game proved we had a total team collapse and lost big because of it. Coaching, offense, defense, special teams, complete uninspired flatness by every body associated with the Cardinals.

It happens. Usually about twice a year for every team.

And on the first weekend of "next year" the Car*s will be in Glendale playing a 17th game.

CHARACTER and identity, will be established from here on out. RECORD will be an important factor for them, from here on in.It would appear, that as we've started to sew it up, we follow our M.O.; let it all take care of itself! Imbecillic (sp) but, US. NOW is the time to put the choke hold on and leave no chance for air, for any team.

He should have caught that ball in the end zone and not allowed the CB to knock it from his hand. For anyone it would have been ok, but not for Fitz.

That would take the grip compacity of a God.

Somebody call Fitz and tell him to start working on it.

Capacity? ;)

Nah, if Fitz would have pulled it in to his chest as soon as he contacted the ball the DB would not have been able to jar it loose.

Instead, Fitz held the catch up and out a split second too long, and the DB made an outstanding play.

How Franchises Rise (& Fall)...

I go back to my "Rule of Three: "

If a team does something good once, it's an event. If it does it twice in a row, it's a trend. If they do it three times in a row, it's become a pattern and we can feel reasonably confident that it's become part of the team's DNA."

The Cardinals aren't quite there yet. A couple of reasons jump to the front of the line: (1) Old habits die hard. (When players get physically or mentally tired, they'll often revert back to early instincts - including an assortment of of habits both good and bad). (2) Bad Matchups. We have problems with big physical teams who want to outmuscle us. We happened to have drawn the Giants and Eagles within a ten-day period. Lousy luck.

The key to achieve better consistency is to crowd out those instinctive bad habits with good habits. (This will take rep after rep after rep for us to see any marked improvement).

I'm afraid that, if we want to match up better with big tough opponents, it will entail bringing in bigger, stronger tougher players at key positions.

Bottom line - Until we fans can wake up each game-day knowing what kind of Cardinal team will show up to play, the team will remain a "work in progress" continuing along a roller-coaster glide-path.

I'll confess to not being rock solid confident we'll even win the division (because SF is capable of winning 4 straight and the Cardinals are less than 100% predictable). Certainly the odds weigh heavily in our favor, but I've been conditioned not to speculate and to keep the cork in the champagne bottle until we actually win something.

I am with you on that statement 100%.

I think it will happen but with the Cardinals it is never 100% certain. Especially when it comes to finishing the job.

This weekend's game against the Rams is THE oppourtunity to take the division. The Cardinals lose this weekend and it is officially time to hit the panic button.

I know as Cardinal fans that we are conditioned to be pessimistic, but come on! Even if the Cards somehow managed to lose at home to the Rams, Vikings and Seattle and @ NE (highly unlikely), let's look at SF's remaining schedule:

Jets
@ Miami
@ St. Louis
Washington

NO WAY is SF winning all those games. They will be lucky to win two and might lose them all. They barely beat a reeling Bills team (and looked bad doing it, I might add) and all of a sudden they are capable of winning 5 in-a-row? Please.

I know the Philly game was a disappointing performance, but don't get carried away with the doom-and-gloom.

they still went on the road and beat a reeling Bills team as opposed to us going on the road and getting the ever living snot beat out of us by a reeling Eagles team.

this post is really just written for arguments sake.

not even the Cardinals could blow this division lead.
