Sampson is really impressive. May take a little time but I really hope they keep putting him out there. Roberts looks fine to me so far. We have bigger concerns.

Bryant Johnson passed the eyeball test. Unfortunately, his eyeballs couldn't pass the watch the ball until you know it's secure test.

Roberts will be fine.

A lot of good answers. The eyeball test reminds me of the judge who was asked what porn was. He said he couldn't describe it, but would know it if he saw it. I guess my point was that by next year, DeMarco will be the second best WR on the team. I'm assuming that the WR group doesn't change, and naturally that's just my opinion, which is also subject to change.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think that we don't have to have an official #2 to be successful.

I'm really excited about Sampson's potential. IMO he looks like starter material.

I hate to drift to the darkside, but I will on Steven Williams. The man cannot catch a cold. The examples are too numerous to mention. Yup, he hauled in the TD pass, but even the way he caught that does not inspire any confidence. He does get open, has speed, ups, and seems to be doing the right things, but a receiver who can't catch, can't play. Period.

Early had one game - the playoff vs Green Bay. Roberts has steadily improved. Stuckey is serviceable. I do like DeMarco from what I've seen in two preseason games. Between those 4, they should get the job done as #2 and #3. But don't count on Williams.

And Levi Brown looks like a great LT :D Eye balls sometime deceive .

The only one spitting that garbage was the Cards organization trying to justify that horrible pick.

I'm starting to agree, but he's had some solid moments this preseason as well. I think he's played well enough, and has shown enough potential that he should make the roster one more season. But if he doesn't start making the tough catches that he's expected to make, he won't last past this season.

It's a make or break season for Williams; it's either time he steps up or his NFL career won't last much longer.

In fairness to the team, he was graded as a 1st rounder by virtually everyone.

The problem is, he wasn't a top five pick. The Cardinals took the need approach on that pick, stacking their draft board way too heavily on need. Depending on the situation, I think you go best player available at a position of need or BPA. This year, we largely went BPA, but it made sense, since the lockout stripped the team of free agency beforehand and we wouldn't have been able to address needs through free agency first.

Hey, you know who the Cards should have drafted other than Levi Brown? Adrian Peterson.

I can't believe this hasn't been discussed on ASFN before.

Can't disagree that Williams had a "bad hair day" vs. GB (not only the missed catches but how about the muffed kickoff in the end zone)?

But one game does not a body of work make.

There's still too much upside there to quit on S. Williams without giving him every possible opportunity to step up and do great things. (The worst that will happen is that he never lives up to expectations, you waste a little time and conceivably squeeze out another WR who might shine. The best is that you wind up with a guy who turns out to be special and wins at least 2 or 3 games for you).

I think Fitz, Early, Roberts and Sampson* are early locks to stick. That leaves approx 4 guys to fill 2 remaining slots. Which means that, as of right now, S. Williams, I. Williams, Komer and Chanci Stuckey should all be considered on the bubble.

But that all could change - don't prematurely write any of these guys off.

* Sampson's secret weapon has been his ST coverage play (a couple of deluxe hits last Friday).

It's no necessarily 6 w/o.

3 QBs
8 or 9 - OL
3 or 4 - TE
3 or 4 - RB
1 or 2 - FB
5 or 6 - WO

Actually I think its time to change things up a little.

You know who the Cards could have drafted other than Levi Brown? Darrelle Revis.

Then they could have drafted Chris Johnson instead of DRC. Then they could have drafted James Laurinaitis instead of Beanie. Then they could have drafted Jimmy Clausen instead of Daryl Wash.....no wait maybe I should have quit while I was ahead.

In the top 10 or so, you have to go BPA regardless of need. They did that with Denny Green and Fitz. The difference in talent and superstar possibility is exponentially better.
