I can now say the Diamondbacks chances of making the playoffs are over. I really felt that if they would win at least 4 of 6 on this road trip, they would get back in the wild card race. After their third heartbreaking loss in a row, the final nail in the coffin has been hammered in.

Melvin needs to play the young guys the rest of the season so they can get ready for next year. It will be very interesting to see how many of the guys whose contracts are up won't be back. This offseason should be very busy for the Diamondbacks and they better improve not only the starting rotation, but the bullpen.

This team needs a couple of star vets that can come in here and provide the kind of leadership by example we used to get from Randy, Curt and the Gonzo.

Where are all those Quentin for MVP advocates that wanted to have him bat 4th in the lineup and play every day a few weeks ago?

I told you teams would figure out how to pitch him and he'd go in the toilet. Rookies almost always do.

The Dbacks need to go after a legit, middle of the order threat this offseason to complement the young guys. The two best hitters on the free agent market just happen to play the postion that will be vacant once Gonzo leaves. Convenient...

I'm still up for playing all the rookies and young guys. I dont care if the Dbacks lose every single one of their remaining games, as long as they are playing the youth. Better for the kids to get ABs now, learn, and adjust to the pitching, then for them to do it next year when we may actually have a shot at the playoffs.

I am kind of irked because Glaus filled a major need on this team and they just gave him away. Granted he had a huge ass salary but you have to pay for that production.

In the end, I am glad Glaus is gone because he is injured too much but the D'backs need to go hard for a guy in that mold.... Not having a power bat in this lineup cost us an easy chance to take the division.

Conor Jackson should be moved, we need production from the corners and we just aren't getting it

The problem with Glaus is that while he filled a need of a power-hitting veteran, he's not the type of guys teams like to put around elite young talent because he's lazy and is not a team-first guy.

The problem with signing a Carlos Lee is that he's fat and therefore more likely to break down without the help of a DH, not to mention he's going to command way more money than he's worth in a FA market void of any power hitters. I'd rather wait until the Yankees don't win the WS and trade for A-Rod.
