i think the top 10 protected is going to the pick that the Hawk's are either getting from the laker or celtics (whoever has the worst record)

top 3 protected most likely sounds like the Hawk's pick ( I wonder if its only top 3 protected for next draft and free of restrictions the year after)

The lakers pick is top 10 protected. I think the hawks pick is lottery protected in 2006 and top 3 in 2007.

Most likely the Suns will get the Lakers pick in 2006 and the Hawks in 2007 unless they make the playoffs in the upcoming year.

If this is true I actually feel better about the trade. I still would have liked more, but that's pretty good. I don't think at LAN is going to be very good next year. I thought the same about Chicago, but the Bulls had much, much more talent and experience than the Hawks. they are still going to have trouble signing quality free agents next year. The Phoenix Suns will most likely get Atlanta's pick, and it will be 4-10. That should be a good, deep draft as well.

Where is the source for this knowledge?...

Anyways, the way I see it, If the Hawks is top 3 protected, and the Lakers are top 10 protected, I feel actually ok about the trade...

Best case Scernio right now.....

Suns land Finley, Use the Trade exception for someone like Tione Walker, and in this next draft get the #4 pick AND the #11 pick... That would be awesome, and BC would look like he knew what he was doing again, Then the trade would be..

JJ

For

Finley, Walker, Diaw, #4 pick and #11 pick.....Good deal....

One of those picks will likely be packaged with the TE (probably next year) to do a sign and trade.

wow, a surprise, i agree with joe mama again. these protections are not that bad. now we have to hope the lakers have a sub-10 pick next year (so we don't get it) and then stink the following year along with the hawks. thus we'd have two top 10 picks in 2007 . . . the year oden comes out. and one of 'em (the lakers) would be unprotected. w/ those picks we could have a very slim outside shot at oden. it's time for something crazy like that to happen for this franchise!

nash
diaw
marion
stoudemire
oden

speechless.

The Suns should keep both picks, no question, but I won't be sweating over them like I did with the Chicago pick. I won't be rooting against the Lakers this year or anything like that.

Well, not more than usual, anyway. :p

Where have you been hearing its going to be a deep draft? I had been hearing that because of the age limit a lot of guys who couldve waited came out this year and because of that, next years draft wasn't going to be too hot. I could be wrong though, please clarify (specifically, is there some players coming out soon that you see as a good fit for the Suns).

About the 2007 draft, and then having an awesome team of Stat-Matrix-Nash- 2 first rounders, I think by that point, Nash and Marion will be pretty over the hill (especially Marion, as his game seems directly tied to his physical abilities).

The way I read it he assumed that Atalanta wouldn't be very good next year, therefor hitting the lottery and us not getting the pick.

He then expected a 4-10 pick in 2007 (when the projection allows it).

I doubt that ATL gives so light protection to their own pick.

If they do it's a very good deal for the Suns. Not to mention the Lakers are not play-off-bound either and their protection is declining quickly too.

I could easily see the Lakers making the playoffs next year and/or the year after.

Like Andy said I was talking about the 2007 draft being a good, deep draft. I would prefer they hold onto both picks unless they can get something fantastic in a trade. Still, they better not trade the Atlanta pic... assuming these protections are correct.

I think I'm never going to talk about the Draft again... lol everytime I get excited Draft time, the Suns Trade Pick or grab somebody I don't care too much for... at least lately.

or

I will hype up, all the guys I don't care for too much and therefor the Suns will then eliminate them from consideration :)

Person
Finley
J Wallace or J O'Neal - okay I screwed up this year, although JO turned out
Marion
I forgot the other Center available that year, the Suns Picked Tsakalidis
Stoudemire
Diaw :) or J Howard
Iguodala
Garcia

Those were my choices, notice they listened to ME many a time, until Cabarkapa, although Tsakalidis turned out better than the C I choose, but remember these were all players left on board.

I expect the team to do exact opposite of what I want... so I think JJ Reddick is the best Collegiate Player, I have ever seen :)

Outside of center, maybe Person (1st Draft I followed), and John Wallace - I have stuck to my Draft criteria (sp)...

athlete
size (height-weight-length)
defensive ability
stat sheet stuffers

I also really like, the Point type of player, regardless of position, if he fits into some of the above.

Dwyane Wade was my all-time favorite College player, although I really like both Iguodala and Jefferson from my favorite team (UofA)...

Looking for couch potato scouting job :D

I think MacCullough was the other C on board when we picked Big Jake... he turned out to be the better player but his health didn't hold up.
