I think I welled up a little bit at the end of that video...unbelievably excited.
Oh...and Stout...can't wait for the next 3 years of your whining and moaning over things they change from the books
Yeah yeah. You may call it whining, but I call it artistic integrity. Believe it or not, Jackson cut my favorite part of any of Tolkien's works, and I was 100 percent on board with it. I love Tom Bombadil, but though some of my friends completely disagree, he had no place in the movies. It's when Jackson does something stupid to try and reach a portion of the audience that would have been watching anyway that I get upset.
Orlando Bloom
Thankfully, this is not the case. He's apparently getting a cool million for two minutes of screen time
Yeah, I remember you going on and on about Bombadil. I get it...although that was always my least favorite part of the books. I was anxious for them to get on their adventure but this big section is devoted to this guy and his "merry dol" and I always wanted to get back on the road
I think Jackson had more artistic integrity over the course of three movies than most adapted screenplay writers do...at least, I felt it kept to the spirit of the books and Tolkein.
We're off to a good start here, can't wait for the next few years
Yeah, that's why Bombadil didn't need to be in the movies. I do agree that Jackson did a fantastic job overall, and did better than many in adapting books to the screen.
I felt Fellowship was perfect, and that RotK was very well done. Sure, I didn't like the extra Gollum thread in the mountains, but it was acceptable. I think they should have done the scouring of the shire, but I can understand why they didn't.
It was really just Two Towers I feel he did rather a crap job of. All that extra time wasted with a sudden Aragorn disappearance, the screw up at Helm's Deep, the Ents suddenly becoming idiots concerning their own forest needing two little Hobbits to trick them into discovery...yeah, he screwed the pooch there. Overall in the series, though, he did well.
I will agree with you on the Ents...it made me sad that they did it the way they did.
Although...I will have to admit...the way they see what happened, and then go charging through the trees was pretty epic and one of my overall favorite scenes in the trilogy.
First trailer is out and it is good. I think I have higher expectations for this than I do the Dark Knight Rises. No matter what next year is going to be a hell of a year in film.

Looks kind of boring to me.
You look kind of boring
It looks like a total snooze fest compared to the LOR trilogy.

Actually, they don't look much like dwarves, do they?
One of the most boring trailers I've ever seen.
You guys ever hear of a TEASER trailer? Sheesh. Sorry there weren't explosions and stuff throughout the whole thing Even though he made some definite mistakes (mostly in Two Towers), Peter Jackson has more than earned the benefit of the doubt with the Hobbit.
