Still, what with the content of this last one, I'll need to see it. Let's just say I don't hold out much hope.

I read the book and it was booorriing. The first 2 movies made the Hobbit more enjoyable to me. I like how they added alot more then what was in the book so I look forward on seeing the third one too.

I hope this chapter is a step up yet again. The second was a step up from the first and all I can hope is this one is slightly better. At the end of the day I think the Hobbit will be a cautionary tale about how NOT to stretch so little material into unnecessary multiple films.

Watched half the trailer, saw almost nothing from the books--everything was made-up crap. The first one started bad, had some decent parts, but ended up a stinker. The second one was about four times as bad. This one? Abandon all hope, all ye viewers.

The sad thing is, I'll HAVE to see it, and it probably will be on the opening weekend I watched the first one because, well, why not? I watched the second one, hoping against hope it would be better. It wasn't. No matter how many stupid characters that shouldn't be there, the actual Battle of the Five Armies has to be cool. It would take a moron a lot of hard work to mess THAT up. And I have to see it lol

And yes, I did catch the sarcasm. I know how much you love my opinions on movies, Chap.

I'm a huge, huge Tolkien fan. Always have been since I read "The Hobbit" and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy over a summer when I was 13. While I thought LOTR movies were amazing, The Hobbit is way too bloated. However, I liked the second Hobbit much more than the first one and I hope the third one continues that upward trend. I have conceded that this trilogy is as much Jackson, maybe even more Jackson, as Tolkien. So, I have put keeping true to the book aside in my evaluating of these movies.

Of course I will see it. It's still amazing to see the fruits of the imagination of one person come to life. It's still incredible to me that Tolkien was able to make a fantasy world so real, even making up new languages for it.

Exactly. It's sort of like pushing off the top of the hill with your sled only to realize it's too late to stop now. LOL.

This trilogy was over bloated and could have been done in one film...possibly two films at the most. It was simply a money grab on the studio's part IMO. Many of us called this before this first film came out. Unfortunately, it turned out to be true.

100% agree with you though that the second film was much better than the 1st. Here is to hoping the last film is an epic addition.

so far, this one has been getting better reviews then the first two. It's apparently shorter and heavy duty on action. My only thing is... I don't really give much a crap about any of these characters so I'm not sure how invested I'll be.

but, it's a big movie theater movie and I'll probably see it anyway.

Meh, I've seen trailers where the content is 90% fabricated crap, so I don't hold out much hope that this one won't be just as butchered. Also, with some of the terrible setup, certain moments have already been completely ruined. Oh well. I'll have to see it, because I can't give up now, like Daren said, and to see the big battle. Then I'll come back to rip it to shreds, and Chap can get a few digs in about me complaining about movies
