I'm still holding out hope that SD fires Norv Turner.
At that point I want Mike Bidwill to load up a private plane w/ cash, fly it directly into Turner's garage and say, "You get to keep both if you be our OC".
The guy is unbelievably good.

I think Whis was a fine OC, but I think there's way too much going on for there to be an passing coordinator and a rushing coordinator.

Get guys to teach them to pass, catch, block, and run and then hire one man to give it a cohesive vision and flow.

Whis has too much to do getting the team in the right direction and shouldn't have to focus on which plays need to be called.

I really do not know who is a good OC or a bad one. I assume you first have to get our HC from acting as the OC and at that point I also assume he would have a lot to do with who is selected since he is he one who has to work with him. Kubiak and Whiz may hate each other for all we know.

I do know that when Bobby Petrino up and quit the Falcons he was bad mouthed all around the country. I was surprised when Arkansas signed him. He has proven to be a God Send and has turned this team totally around. He seems almost like an offensive genius and we run some plays that are very innovative. He is not only smart but can inspire and pressure the players to do their best. The result is a 10-2 record so far this year and a top ten recruiting team for next year. He already makes on the order of 4 mil a year and the fans are calling for him to be extended while he still has three more years on his contract. The Athletic Director has said it will be handled. Coaches can make all the difference in college where they are responsible for obtaining the players. He was in Arizona this week as Arkansas has signed four guys for Arizona. We have never gone out that far to recruit. One of them is out of a junior college in the Phoenix area (I think a running back).

Petrino is an excellent example of a guy who is a great College coach, yet seemed liked a horrific NFL coach. Does he have any experience as an OC in the NFL? He was great at Louisville also. I just don't he knows how to communicate at the Professional level. The Falcons players HATED him.

I cna see maybe a bigger name DC being brought in but Whiz isn't going to bring in any OC that doesn't believe is his system and guy like Kubiak believs in his own system, not Whiz's. Why do you think Haley let Chan Gailey go right before the start of last season? Heck, Whiz didn't let Haley call the plays right away. Kubiak, or Norv Turner aren't going to come here and not have the authority to run their offense.

Our D is actually a bigger concern to me. Not only do we need a DC, but we need players on that side of the ball also. With a new QB & a new OL coach, Whiz can turn the offense around quickly.

You guys lust after someone's ex-girlfriend too? Sometimes there is a REAL good reason besides irreconcilable differences that they become an "EX".

Don't get me wrong; I'm not for "staying the course" and I do like Kubiak. This awful season can become a decade of disaster caused by desperate irrational decisions.

note to self: don't make this sound like thesmel.....

Being a good Head Coach and being a good Offensive Coordinatoer are many times mutually exclusive.

An OC would have never let the QB situation become what it has so I think its a big deal.

Most of you may not have heard much about Auburn's OC. His name is Gus Malzon. He is sort of a legend in Arkansas high school football as a head coach. He is one of the most innovative offensive coaches I have seen. He is not one to copy other people but one who other people tend to copy. The guy definitely thinks outside the box. At some point someone is going to grab him out of college and bring him to the NFL. He was the OC at Arkansas briefly. I think he is the one who came up with the Wildcat formation using Felix Jones and DMac. He also was big on the no huddle offense. In the NFL we seem to recycle coaches over and over. It would be worth while, though unlikely, to look at this guy as he is not your everyday OC. He is the real deal who would bring new ideas. Our management probably never has heard much about Gus Malzon but at some point he will be a coach in the NFL as an OC to start with. He is a coach that is a difference maker. Apparently Auburn recognized his genius. This is his first big step.
