On a day when the Detroit Lions added a veteran cornerback from the outside via free agency, the team also brought back a veteran who has been in Detroit for the last two years. The Lions re-signed CB Khalil Dorsey on Saturday in a love announced by the team itself.

Dorsey has been with the Lions since December of 2022. He's played in 27 games in that time, including 14 in 2024. While nominally a cornerback, Dorsey has been far more integral on Detroit's special teams units; only Sione Vaki and Ben Niemann played more on the punt and kick teams in 2024.

He did get one injury-related emergency start at cornerback last season, and Dorsey proved pretty capable in Detroit's Week 13 win over Chicago on Thanksgiving. The 28-year-old's season ended on injured reserve after breaking his tibia and fibula in a friendly-fire situation against the Bills.

Dorsey's return pairs with the signing of veteran Rock Ya-Sin to shore up the special teams and restock the back end of the cornerback depth chart as the Lions look to the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
