Burt Reynolds is Back in The Longest Yard Source: Variety
Thursday, April 29, 2004

Burt Reynolds will star opposite Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in Paramount/Sony's remake of The Longest Yard, set to shoot in July, reports Variety. He'll portray the coach of the team of inmates forced to play football against a team of guards.

In the original film, released in 1974 by Paramount, Reynolds starred as retired pro football quarterback and prison inmate. Michael Conrad portrayed the coach of the inmates.

Paramount and Sony-based Happy Madison plan to adhere to the basic storyline of the original, helmed by Robert Aldrich and written by Albert S. Ruddy and Tracy Keenan Wynn. Snoop Dogg had been expected to be in the cast, but he is no longer attached

I saw th original and I was this one. I have to addmit I really liked this one, even though one is a remake of the other, I think the new one is more comedy and very funny at that, plus Burt does not get a million dollars to shave in this one. I really enjoyed it.

I just watched it. I really liked the original, I’ve seen it several times. This one was different enough that I liked it too. It was much more funny and silly. The cast of characters in this one were really funny. The guy who played Turley (I guess he is called The Great Khali in wrestling) was flip’n enormous.
