I'm pretty pumped about this. Great move and contract. I hope he gets his incentives.

I know he passed his physical buy is he 100% healthy? I ask because he signed a reasonably affordable deal so why didn't he have more suitors? I agree with posters in that he is a good addition....if he is indeed healthy.

Apparently he was being trained by Jay Glezer who says CJ is in the best shape of his career!
He did have "suitors", kinda... Glezer said there were a bunch of teams talking to him and saying that if they had their top back go down with an injury, CJ would be the first guy they would call. However, after week 1, no top backs went down and Glezer coached CJ, telling him that BASK were the two best possible GM/Head Coach combo he can be around.
He's guaranteed just $400k, the Cards can cut him if he doesn't work out for some reason, and only be on the hook for the $400k!
CJ has only missed 1 game his entire career! He only got 155 carries last season, and averaged 4.3 yards behind a crap o-line.

Personally, I think this could turn out to be Keim's best FA signing to date... He's had a bunch, but given the virtual no risk and potential HUGE upside with CJ, this could be epic! ;)

This signing has nothing but upside to it. It's very doubtful he hits his incentives but he's a "take it to the house" option every time he's on the field. For years the Cards lacked explosive playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Now, they can line up 3(Duke, CJ, and Smokey) over 50% of the time if they want. Not to mention with Fitz and Floyd the other options, the offense could be very scary.

Lions, Tigers and Bears ... and Cheetahs .. Oh My.

CJ, J. Brown, & Nelson all have elite speed, Juke has excellent speed and Floyd has very good speed. I seriously don't now how teams could stop this grouping on a consistent basis.

I do remember BA saying when he first was hired by Michael that RB's don't get much action in his offense in the passing game. RB's run the ball and WR's catch the ball. Seems he has changed his mind and that's a good thing IMO.

Obviously there are people out there that are overrating this signing, but there are plenty that are very much underrating this signing as well. I have seen plenty of people say that he is "washed up" and "done" at this point, but what exactly is that based on? Is it simply because he only had 663 yards rushing last year? If so that is because he was splitting carries with Ivory (CJ averaged more yard per carry). Just look at the film he still has quite a bit of the speed and quickness that he has always been known for. Sure he has lost some of that as the years have gone by, but he isn't "washed up" either.

If he can get us 600-700 rushing and 200 rec, this is a solid signing...

Can't wait to see Larry and Floyd block for this guy. Nobody uses his blocks better than CJ and I think this is a home run signing.

There were a lot of people clamoring to get AP back a while ago and the team just signed CJ who has similar career statistics as AP and is the same age without the ACL surgeries and some are questioning what CJ is going to be able to contribute? I don't get it.

Chris Johnson: I haven’t lost a step

After an offseason that saw the Jets pass on his contract option and Johnson get shot in the shoulder, the running back says that he’s “just happy to be back playing football.” He added that he didn’t agree with those who believe that his performance with the Jets was a sign his best days playing football are in the past.

“Losing a step, I don’t see it,” Johnson said, via the Cardinals website. “I actually felt I was more explosive last year.”

The guys coming in with a chip on his shoulder. That's important!! Former stars don't take kindly to being told they are washed up. I like the signing & I think CJ will be a factor for us.

Completely agree. We may be biased because he is a Cardinal, but can't only think he still has what it takes to be a good RB

Do you consider M Lynch a HOFer?

Possibly, but I think he's got a greater reputation as a big time RB.

Let me play Devils advocate.

Do you think these guys will get in the HOF?
OJ Anderson
Thomas Jones
Watters
Dunn
Tiki
Ricky Williams
Etc

Similar numbers & not thought of as great imo

Not so sure you can say that considering Jim Taylor, Earl Campbell, Floyd Little, Larry Czonka and Leroy Kelly are in the HOF. Only Campbell has more yards than Johnson and none had a 2,000 yd. season to their credit. Would you consider Steven Jackson and Frank Gore HOFers? Both have over 11,000 yds and are still playing. Jackson is 16th all time and Gore is 20th. Only Tomlinson, Corey Dillon and Fred Taylor are ahead of these two guys and are not in the HOF. Every other RB ahead of them is in.

AP is 28th and Johnson is 36th. Lynch is 35th, 67 yards ahead of Johnson. I would think what he does over the next couple of years will determine if Johnson is a HOFer. I would not count him out quite yet.

I agree with Shane, he's unlikely to get 1000 yards. That said he adds experienced depth at the right price and could surprise with his production. I just hope he stays motivated if Ellington gets the bulk of the touches.
