On one play he could of gone out of bounds and turned back to run into 2 defenders to get 2 extra yards.

So he does not avoid contact.

He has quick ability to change direction and accelerate out of it.

He has good hands out of the backfield.

He does not usually go down after first contact. Has the ability to stay upright with arm tackles.

That highlight showed that he still has some skills and would be a good addition to the team.

i dont understand why so many people make comments like "he probably doesnt have anything left" and etc. The dude averaged over 4 yards per carry LAST YEAR! People act like he is joey friggin porter or something.

BCF good call, I was going to post about that one too but didnt. I LOVED that. Normal guys will fall out of bounds right there 9 out of 10 times, he decided to hit someone instead.

Didnt we lose a game once because JJ Arrington decided to not get hit one yard short of a first down on fourth down?

What I like about this signing is that we got a RB that was great at one point on a vet minimum, prove it deal. This year Chris will want to prove to the NFL that he still has what it takes to be a RB in the NFL and hopefully see what he did in the highlight reels while wearing Cards red!

He will work on getting as many yards as he can and he won't have that mentality of saying "I got paid, so I don't need to play hard". Will he get 1000 yards? I hope so. I hope he hits every intensive(1,300 yrds and Pro Bowl) too. I have a feeling that the combo of Ellington(receiving yrds) and Johnson(rushing yrds) will be pretty fun to watch.

This was him just last year with limited touches and still did well with them. If you look, there was no blocking on several occasions and he made it work.

Now if he doesn't do anything, not a huge loss and Cards at least made a move.

Great tape---what it shows in addition to some big runs is how prolific Johnson is in turning screen passes into chunk yards.

Exactly and this will be his prove it year so he will go all out. This whole contract/player reminds me of Cromartie. Everyone thought he was done and he comes here on a prove it deal and excels! Hope Johnson does the same thing.

The only thing I am worried about is Johnson's character. Has he been an issue in the locker room in the past?

You are so right, there were alot of great screen pass chunk yards in that video. Just think when both Johnson and Ellington are out there. The options Palmer has now just between those 2 is awesome!

CJ is exactly what we needed. I have never been high on Ellington as a three down back. CJ played for an awful Titans team and an awful Jets team, in which, the head coach knew it was over for him. This will be the first time in his career that he has played for a stable and competitive organization. He has plenty left and we only need one really good year out of him. I laugh at anyone who thinks that Ellington is an every down back or that he can pound it between the tackles. GREAT signing and I couldn't think of a better RB for this team...outside of AP.

He sure was making them work in that highlight reel. He has that quick shift of direction and acceleration to get those extra yards. We might be surprised at how much he does have left in the tank and playing on a prove it deal he might just put in that extra work.

Good move by the FO all the way around.

Did you watch the highlights of him from last year(yes last year) I posted up? He still has alot of speed and juking skills. Yes I get they are highlights, but just from those, he still has it. I don't see why he would lose all that in just a year, unless the drive by bullet did something to him...

I did watch.

But...
1) is the Cards Oline that much better in the run game than its been for how long now? I hope so with the addition of Iupati, but we still have possible questions at C & RG.

2) will CJ get enough carries or will he be limited because of the potential of AE & DJ's or limited because of number of solid RBs?

3) and yes he's a year older, right at the doorstep of being labeled "over the hill" RB.

4) when not used properly he pouts & hasn't been the greatest team player if I remember correctly.

Let us pray he's got 3/4 left in the tank.

Amen to that!

What's your thoughts on making AE a full time WR in 2016 Mitch? I see greatness

Doubt that happens. They will share carries, but I am going out on the limb here and CJ will get more carries and rushing yards then AE this year, but AE will have more receiving yards.

AE would make a decent WR but I can see also situation where we line up both CJ and AE in the backfield along with Fitz, Brown, and Floyd as a WR. Then send both RBs out in the flat. Stretching the Defense out because they will not know who to cover. One on One with a LB for CJ or AE is sweet.

I think Ellington is the Honey Badger of the offense. Moving him around to keep the opponents guessing and off-balance is a good idea. Plus, you want to line him up in the backfield and have him run routes against LBers from there too. For him to get a running head start on a route can make him almost impossible to defend.

I really like this signing. Athletes are most dangerous when they have a chip on their shoulder. I believe that's why AP may have his best season ever & why Johnson may be very good also. Johnson has certainly heard the whispers that he's washed up & the game has passed him. Even at this stage in his career, he's a better RB than Ellington. BA was leaning heavily on David Johnson being his man out of the gates. When that didn't happen, the Cardinals knew they had to do something. They KNOW that Ellington will NEVER be an every down RB. Not ever. I wouldn't be surprised if CJ has a much better season than people think he will.

As Mitch said earlier all those guys & speed spell dangerous which is why I think this O will b spectacular for the next few years! The Super Bowl aspirations live & die imo with how well Bettcher fills in.

The beauty of this signing....Both Elington and D. Johnson are suddenly AT PRACTICE!
Keim lit a fire under their rear ends and the message is loud and clear! No matter how C.Johnson does it's a motivator for the other RB's

I love it!

I'm not sure CJ has anything left in the tank, but if he does he's an upgrade over Ellington in the run game especially between the tackles.

Imo it's time to make AE after this year full time.

What does that mean?

I know he passed his physical buy is he 100% healthy? I ask because he signed a reasonably affordable deal so why didn't he have more suitors? I agree with posters in that he is a good addition....if he is indeed healthy.

Yea, I keep forgetting that Bowles is gone and we have a green at the DC helm. Not sure if it was the players or him, but the D was getting lite up by Daniel Saturday.

our four safeties didnt see the field after the first quarter. The rest of the secondary wont be on the team so he better light them up.

Hope so. I hope Bettcher becomes a house hold name. :D
