My kids begged me to take them to this movie while I had zero desire to see it. Against my better judgment I took them to see it. They really enjoyed it.

Surprisingly I actually enjoyed the first half of the movie. For me it was like they tried to make it serious initially but the last third ended up being pure cheese. So as a viewer I was turned off. Is this supposed to be serious or cheese?

I've seen worse so there is at least that.

How in the hell did you enjoy the first half? All I could think was:

WHERE IN THE EFF IS THE EFFING MEG??? lol [\spoiler}

Yeah, I guess that should have been our first clue. This film was absolute garbage. Can't believe it grossed >$500m worldwide.

I've read the book, I think there's 3 actually at least 2. The book is much better of course the movie completely changes the plot.

I actually emailed the author years ago to ask him about some plot points and he responded quickly. IN the book there's a running thread about Pat Burrell chasing the all time HR record in baseball I asked him of all the players to pick, why Pat Burrell? I think he had some affiliation to the college Pat attended, he went to Bellarmine HS in San Jose(Burrell) so I knew about him as a kid.

He also talks about some theory that certain types of large ships a couple of hundred years ago used to some often sink at sea and his theory, and apparently some scientist even speculated, was they were being attacked by Megalodons. I asked him if he was serious about that and he said yes, I actually believe it was possible. I then asked so how all these massive ships that cross the ocean carrying containers aren't getting attacked now and he said he thinks the older ships made a specific sound that attracted the megalodon and the modern ships don't make that noise!
