1. Halas 318 W 148 L 32 T, 10 playoff games
2. Shula 328 W 156 L 6 T, 36 playoff games
3. Landry 250 W 162 L 6 T, 36 playoff games
4. Lambeau 226 W 132 L 22 T, 5 playoff games

As far as modern day coaches goes, I know a ton of people dislike the guy but Martay has a a pretty impressive record...

Schottenheimer 200 W 126 L 1T, 18 playoff games

Walsh is out in my book just as someone mentioned with Madden... He did not even break 100 wins... If you have Walsh in, you have to add Madden and I would take Madden over...

Walsh-Career regular season record: 92 - 59 - 1 (0.609) Career postseason record: 10 - 4

Madden-Career regular season record: 103 - 32 - 7 (0.750) Career postseason record: 9 - 7

First, a coaching name that I haven't seen mentioned yet is Sid Gillman.

Except he had a .500 career... Hard to over look a lower to middle of the road record.. He gets an honorable mention and that is it.. :D

George Halas - never. He drove my Cardinals out of Chicago. how 'bout Jimmy Conzelman who coached the Big Red to their only NFL Championship? And two who never won a Super Bowl but won a bunch of games - Bud Grant and Marc Levy

BIM: Marv

(and for what it's worth, Marv did win a "Grey Cup" in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes as did Bud Grant with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It's what got them their opportunity in the NFL)

Found list somewhere. Not sure about your thoughts on Walsh.

In his 10 seasons as head coach of the 49ers, Walsh compiled an impressive 102-63-1 mark that included 10 wins in 14 postseason games. Under Walsh, the 49ers won six NFC Western Division championships and NFC titles in 1981, 1984, and 1988. Those NFC titles were followed with victories in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, and XXIII which made the 49ers, by every measurement, the NFL team of the 1980s.

wow, no kidding my stats on him were way off... And I did not save the site I got them from... Which would be a good thing since they were WAY wrong...

Edit... Actually the stats are the same - 92 regular season victories - The info I got seperated the playoff games from the season games...

And here is an impressive bit of trivia...

Madden has a winning record (36-6-2) as a head coach against other NFL head coaches in the Hall of Fame that he coached against...
