Plot Summary: Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: "The Mummy."

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Star Trek Beyond") whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, "The Mummy" brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

That's too bad. I love the idea of the shared universe--sounds like Universal simply doesn't know how to do it.

agree. Especially because it looked like they put together a REALLY interesting cast along the way with Crowe playing Jekyll/Hyde, Depp playing The Invisible Man and Bardem as Frankenstein. Those three guys plus whatever big name they get for Bride Of Frank plus Tom Cruise would have been pretty crazy to eventually see on screen together.

Definitely not a great movie but it is better than the critics are saying. Hopefully it doesn't doesn't negatively affect the Dark Universe plan which I am interested to see play out.

it's making a decent amount of coin internationally, so the universe might not be dead yet. If it's hits 500 worldwide, I can see them going ahead and trying to keep creating it, but they'll need Bride Of Frankenstein to be what Wonder Woman was to DC to get people really excited moving forward, IMO.

I think the universe still has some legs.

But I thought the movie was... mediocre. Nothing that was particularly bad about it, but nothing particularly good either. I do like what they did with Russell Crowe and looking forward to see what else they do with him.

But, like Pirates, it was pretty mediocre.

saw this last week. it was very entertaining...I like the concept of cruise/set wandering around unchecked...may be a useful tool later. I also liked what they did with Hyde,...not over done.
