I think a blended approach could work like what we have in sports here, it just may ramp up higher given the money in cross league competitions.
It's not like an MLB or NBA team is competing for talent or can go compete in a big money tournament if they have a good season
There are also fewer financial implications to having a rebuild
A structure that allows the top clubs to do what they do, with a tax penalty that can help backstop
Would be tricky to work out, especially with pro/reg, etc.
Anyone know if aside from media, etc if there is any real revenue sharing? I think conceptually it would be a tough sell

I think it’s a butterfly-wings problem. I don’t need Luton to compete with Man City, and Leicester just had a magical run not long ago showing it’s possible.
It’s crazy that the places where true capitalism is possible in sport is socialist Europe. I don’t have a big problem with the structure as long as teams aren’t leveraging themselves out of existence

Except it serves as a de facto way for the septic six to remain atop the heap and disallow any other teams to catch up. Newcastle isn't going to be managed by creditors--ever, now--and had an injury ravaged squad, but couldn't spend a dime in the winter window because, uh...financial fair play?
Say someone big takes over Fulham and money is no object. They may be able to compete in...10 years or so? Newcastle had an advantage as a bigger club and an old Adidas favorite. Teams like Fulham wouldn't have that. They'd be prevented from seriously competing...to protect themselves? Baloney.
It's a broken system and needs changed for sure.

And Sunderland...well, their under 21 side had 3 very senior players in it and our under 21 side still beat the pants off them, so I guess it's about business as usual at the Stadium of Shyte.

So flipping glad we re-signed Emil Krafth. That's a real world-class player there providing quality depth. Definitely the kind of player you want filling out your squad when you're chasing Europe and trophies.

Beating Spurs today would be a big statement, and sadly, they've put themselves in a position where they pretty much need all 3 points here. Unfortunately, the back four will comprise Murphy, Krafth, Schar, and Burn in some form. That's not just not good; that's abysmal. Schar, okay, and Burn has been okay at CB, but my gut says Krafth goes in the middle and Burn out wide. Not good. Hall and Livramento are basically all they have on the bench, too. Full credit to Howe if he can get the lads to get the W here.

What a tactical masterclass from Howe and a huge effort from the lads. Howe thoroughly outcoached Postecoglou (sp?) and the players thoroughly outefforted Spurs. Howe-way the lads!
