I wonder where Petey and the one ref went to dinner. They had a running converstaion the entire game like they were long lost friends.

The play that I thought was strange/weird, whatever you want to call it, really had no bearing on the outcome. It was on PP's initial pass interference call. The back judge starts to grab his flag, stops, looks over to the middle of the field like he was seeking approval, and the looks back to PP and throws it.

What's the answer? You can't just say get a deal done, unless both sides are willing to "give". And it seems to me that the regular refs, as part time employees, need to give up their pension requests, and concentrate on getting a raise.

Yep, part time employees making upwards of $200,000. I don't feel sorry for them one bit. Once guys adjust and get some more training, they'll do the job just fine. I think the regular refs need a reality check.

They had no control over the players either, there seemed to be a fight after every play for the first quarter

Yeah I know, I"m one of them. Blame the NFL not the refs for being put in that situation.

BTW, very little mention of the good jobs the refs did in keeping a very chippy game under control.

I totally blame the NFL for the situation.

The replacements looked pretty terrible at least a couple times in the DEN PITT game last night.

Letting Rothlisberger call a time out when the play clock had clearly run out.

Not calling too many men on the field because the ref RIGHT IN FRONT of the Steeler player still on the field had his back turned to the line of scrimmage.

Yep me neither! A $30-40k pay raise isn't chump change for 20 games especially considering the economy were in.:bang:

I still don't see how the refs missed at least 4 false starts on Russell Okung, outside of the ones the did call! Wtf are they watching? I know a refs job isn't easy, but some of the crap calls they are blowing are simple, easy calls that shouldn't happen in Pop Warner ball.

Agreed! Game tickets and Sunday Ticket are already over-priced IMO. I hope the NFL doesn't cave to the zebras.

Yesterday was a total joke. The timeout situation was obviously horrible, but so were the calls being made on BOTH sides of the ball. The pass interferences that were being called against us were dumb, and I have to say that on more than one occasion we got calls that we didn't deserve either (although, they seemed to be much more in favor of Seattle). Yesterday was just an abomination.

In addition to the blown calls, I can't stand how much more coaches and players are being allowed to argue with the scab refs. When coaches and players appear to have a much better grasp of what is going on, that is a problem.

I think the refs called the PI about right, based on the rules the thing is the normal refs just let more go, which is fine too, I prefer that but based on the rules you can't argue much about the PI calls, they are what they are.

It's just obvious there is a much different take between the real refs and the replacement refs on what they'll let go.

In terms of the time out thing that was terrible but it ended up working to our favor, Pete C thought he was being cute calling that time out, he was proven correct that he could do it but all it did was waste a down where they ran up the middle, then bit him when the refs sat on their hands to even it out.

Hilarious.
