Interesting to me that they basically banned the Mile High Salute but you can still Lambeau Leap....
we had this fool on the Cards a few years back....third and five....dude gets juked on the bubble screen,.gives up fifteen yards,...then he celebrates like he just won the Superbowl when he finally makes the tackle...
sad fact is...most NFL players lack either the intellect or the maturity to know when a celebration is appropriate

I don't see the issue in celebrating a touchdown or a big play but the celebrations stopped being fun when players started to jump around and act like idiots after every routine play.
Barry Sanders never celebrated....act like you have been there before and your going to be there again.
There is nothing wrong at all with celebrating accomplishment. I believe what Oaken, as well as myself take issue with is when that celebrating goes way beyond anything you seem to do, and is used for things like a sack (often when the game is out of hand and the sack as no impact on the game), or a simple tackle where the tackler should simply get up and get his arse back in the huddle..
The "celebrating" in the NFL has become completely out of sync with the cause for the celebrating...
Did you not enjoy games that Barry Sanders played in? Do you not enjoy games that Larry Fitzgerald plays in??
Ding! Ding! Ding! I'm in this camp. I am fine with celebrations after a big play or scoring a TD or and INT however these ridiculous celebrations after simply getting a first down gets real old after awhile. They have gotten to the point where they might as well celebrate for just stepping on the field. Maybe they can all get together and do the Macarena.
football is the consummate team sport and all great plays are the result of others doing their job well...personally I do not care to see any player acting an ass and trying to promote their own ego on the field. These guys are highly paid professionals and should carry themselves as such while they are working.
Well said oaken. Completely agree.
Yes, fans should act like they have seen football before, savages. And the wave makes me dizzy. And fans in the stadium shouldn't cheer either. It's rude.

It makes little sense to me to tell these giant dudes to go nuts and "kill" the guy across to them, to simply walk back to the huddle once the play is completed.
Soon, we will want to centers to snap the ball with his pinky out.

Damn right, there should only be light applause when each play is over and at the end of the game, thank the opposing fans for coming out to see the game.
All this hooting and hollering is simply barbaric. We should take a page from the English to learn what proper cheering and support for your team should be. Those who can't learn to show proper dignity shall be escorted form the arena. Stiff upper lip I might add.
YOUR WELCOME!

Exceptions to the rule. And yet, some of the greatest to ever play the game did/do just that... You're right... makes little sense...
