Why do you gotta hate on my man Bill Gramatica. If he makes the list then there has to be a place for Neil as well.

THis would have been a great thread if it had been all-time Cards who were great for somebody else.

There isn't enough bandwidth to list all the failures that have cruised through the Bidwills locker room.

I think we need to start an all-time under appreciated Cardinals list.

My nominee:

Bobby Joe Conrad 1958-1969 (Just playing for the Cards that long makes him special.)

422 receptions for 5,902 yards and 38 TDs. Also kicked 33 FGs and 95 extra points. In 1959 he was a running back and averaged 4.4 ypc.

Only downside to BJC is that he is the reason that I am a Cardinal fan.

But if you really want to depress the Cardinal faithful make up an all-time team of players the Cards drafted who never amounted to jack for another NFL team once the Cards cut 'em.

Or players that WERE good that came to our team and played like crap. For example:

Eric Metcalf
Emmit Smith
Duane Starks

Feel free to add

Harvey had his best years with the Cardinals, was very average with the Skins. Thomas Jones is still very average & even though Rice won a SB with Tampa, his best years were also with the Cardinals. Pittman was an average player on a very good Tampa team. I'm still not sold on Davis & KVB's injuries made it a difficult decision whether to keep him.

I have to disagree with everyone of those comments except maybe Pittman but even Michael had decent seasons with the Bucs. Harvey had several excellent years with the Skins posting numbers similar to what Dansby is doing now for AZ. So did Rice in Tampa with over 65 sacks in his first 5 years there and TJones in Chicago where he rushed for more yards in 2005 than he did in his 3 seasons in Arizona combined. Jones' 1335 yards is more than any Cardinal RB has managed since OJA in 1979!

KVB and LD both made the probowl playing for other teams but not for the Cards. That automatically qualifies them for my list.

Remember my list was simply former Cards who were great for other teams. Not former Cardinal busts who were great for other teams.

Some below-the-radar guys who had their good moments for us:
RB Wayne Morris, Ronald Moore,

FB Willis Crenshaw and Cyd Edwards and Thunder Thornton (& Jim Otis), Bill Triplett,

WR Pat Tilley, Fran Polsfoot, Don Stonesifer, Billy Gambrell, John Gilliam,

OL Roger Finnie, Tom Brahaney, Ernie McMillan, Bob Reynolds, Ken Gray, Bob DeMarco, Irv Goode,

DL - Curtis Greer, John Zook

LB - Jamie Rivers, Tim (Clothesline) Kearney, Niko Noga, Dale Meinert,

DB - Pat Fischer, Jerry Norton (P), Abe Woodson,

P - Carl Birdsong

Just curious, but whatever happened to RB Ivory Lee Brown, DT Rush Brown and RB Theotis Brown? DE Fate Echols? FB George Franklin? FB Mal Hammock? TE Johnny McWilliams? DE Walt Patulski? QB Tony Sacca?

Jim McMahon

McMahon gets my vote for worst Cardinal of all time. At one point, our starter went down and they tapped to Jim to play. Some reporter asked McMahon if he'd be ready to go and he said no. Here is a guy who is getting paid P-Diddy money to ride the pines, his only job is to be ready to go just in case he has to play. But McMahon said he wasn't ready.

If you want you can give him bonus points for telling the truth, because he was anything but ready to play, he had absolutely nothing on Sunday. I don't think he made a single good play for us. We got absolutely scalded by a lame Cleveland team, 32-0.

I thought, did you pack anything but your golfclubs when you came out here for this gig? As a Cardinals fan I can forgive every manner of horrifying football. But for that worthless piece of garbage to sit there and say he wasn't ready. I've never forgotten that.

Theotis Brown played for another team shortly and then was out of the league IIRC.Echols ended up in Canada after his knee injury.Patulski retired after his time with the Cards.McWilliams played a year or 2 after AZ then retired.Jeff you really brought out some name from the past and some good memories.
Curtis Greer could have been the Cards all-time best pass rusher except for knee injuries.Tim (clothsline) Kearney was okay as long as he nailed freaking scum like Cowboys and Redskins.Cards blew twice with the Redskins-once with Pat Fischer and second with Dave Butz.

None of those guys even come close to Terry Nofsinger and Buddy Humphries. Also on the list, their last and only 1st pick in the draft, the immortal King Hill.

Pretty nice as a list of guys who should have had overall ratings <60 in Madden. :)

Jason Starkey, Anthony Clement, Levar Wood, and Marcus Bell got ROBBED!

Could Fred Wakefield have a tri-fected at DE, OT and TE ?

I missed Jay Novacek...and Ottis Anderson sure did go on to bigger and better things.

But this is not a new thing. In the early days of the NFL, Paddy Driscoll made his name as a Cardinal, but when Chris O'Brien felt the economic pinch, he let his star go.

And Pat Summerall was a fine kicker. But you probably know him for his time as a Giant.

Forgot about Fred Wakefield, good catch. Also, if you look at players in Cardinlas history, i was going to make a special nomination for a Russ Smith :D,who appears in the Cards annals.
