SS and TE were two of the biggest needs. Yeremiah Bell was horrible, do you really think otherwise?

TE was so bad at blocking we rolled a third tackle out there often (Massie).
Tell me how great this draft was this season when we still can't cover the TE. Dansby is gone and Abrham is not a spring chicken, and D-Wash is going to get suspended...again and you don't think LB is a need over a blocking TE or an undersized WR from an obscure college?

I like the pick. He is the explosive WR the Cards needed and who has an extra gear to separate from defenders. I was hoping we might get him later and I preferred Herron, but this guy is electric and probably the fastest WR left on the board.

I think he was the fastest player in the draft, maybe?

I'm not going to pay attention to any more of pre-draft talk from the Cards about BPA and "sticking to the board".

Just rank our biggest needs, match with leaner positions in draft, and we will have a much better bead on who we will actually pick.

Yep.

I am not in disagreement. Just responding to nj who asked for an explanation regarding Cards' needs in this draft.

I think Keim has gone almost all need. The only positive I can throw at that is that maybe he thinks we are close to aSuper Bowl and has tried to go short term in response.

I think Cromartie was signed to help cover big WR and Powers will play the outside recover.

Pretty sure we picked Kevin Minter for a reason.

Agreed we didn't draft a replacement for Abraham, but to be honest I don't think there was a player in the third round that could. I think Keim is in full on win now mode and it could cost us in the future.

Needs coming into the draft:

QBOTF
LB
OL

And we draft:

CB
TE
DE
WR

Can someone please explain this to me?

Sure

Needs coming into the draft, in order of importance IMO:

SS
Pass Rush LB
TE
RT
C
Speed WR
Backup QB

We draft so far:

SS
TE
DE they think can play rush OLB (we'll see...)
Speed WR

Not on any permutation of this universe, in this draft, with these players in it, drafting at 20, was QBOF remotely on their minds. This is not a QBOF draft. And it isn't our deepest need by a long shot.

However, after this draft it probably will be the second biggest need afterwards, right behind LB, pass rush variety.

SS was the most significant hole in our defense, has been since Adub started to decline (and he couldn't cover TE either, so THAT has long been a weakness). We fixed it.

I was just looking at a North Carolina website (Inside Carolina). They mentioned that Martin really came on strong in the second half of this year with 18 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks in his last eight games

Keep in mind that need is used as a main tie breaker when you have a bunch of prospects with similar grades. Same goes for positional depth in the draft. It shouldn't be a shock that the Cardinals elevated players at need positions when they were building their board.

Who is that 5th round RT some of the guys were writing about?

From North Carolina?

Hurst? Is he really worth picking up then?
