So is the US out or is it relaying on their points to move up? What has to happen for them to move to the next level?

Beyond the sun.
It took Cameron's mis-hit combined with Beasley being out of position and Howard losing his footing, then either Cameron or Gonzalez not marking their man for the USMNT to only come away with only a draw.

Three months ago, 4 points after the first two matches would have been wonderful. Now, it is heart breaking. Impressed with the wide back play, tonight. Even DeMarcus made some attacking runs. Bring on the Germans! er, ... Bring on the other Germans!

Tie or beat Germany. Or if they lose, do so by a small margin, and hope Portugal beats Ghana by a small margin.

Win or tie and we move on. Lose and we count on the outcome of the Portugal/Ghana match to decide our fate based on point differential. We have a bigger lead over Portugal on this front, so we want them to win in a squeaker.

Bradley, you can't miss that goal and then give away possession in the middle of the damn pitch with less than a minute to go!

He's a POS...okay maybe not, but I'm upset and he played like crap.

I am counting on a loss to Germany, so as long as Ghana and Portugal play it close, I think I am good.

Ghana and Portugal playing it close is certainly not enough. Our goal differential is +1 and theirs is -1. We have 4 goals and 4 points, and Ghana has 1 point and 3 goals. If we lose by one and they win 1-0, goal differential is tied and goals scored is tied and group point total is tied. I don't know what final tiebreaker is there; head to head, maybe? Let's hope not to find out. If we lose by more than one and they win, or we lose and they win with more than 1 goal, we're toast.

No, we need either a draw from that game or a Portugal win. Portugal is 5 goals away from us in goal differential. Good luck making up that.

I hope to see Portugal on the front foot. Portgual has to overcome 5 goals. The worst possible outcome is a 2-0 or 3-0 win by Ghana.

Yeppers.

Yeah, for all the good he did in that game, Bradley put us -2 goals down in that game. He hit a tap-in right into a defender to cost us a goal, and had a horrific giveaway in the middle of the pitch that directly led to the tying goal. He played a lot better, but he still ended up the dog in this game.

He went from total waste of a player to solid play but two massive gaffes. Maybe next game he'll be brilliant and we'll beat Germany lol

Also, let's be realistic. Germany's not through already, and in this situation, in the 3rd game, they're well-nigh impossible to beat. I'm not going to chalk it up as a loss yet, but let's just say our chances hinge on the Ghana-Portugal game.

Man, that was a knee to the gonads. :(

Great goals by the US, though. I was watching the Univision broadcast and was hoping that the last Portuguese goal had been disallowed because they didn't seem happy at all about it. I realized why after a minute, but that was crushing.

If the US and Germany are both guaranteed to advance if they tie, what's to prevent them from agreeing to just screw around for 90 minutes and not try to score?

That's a pretty cool graphic. Not just because it looks good for the US, either.

Proof that the whole substitute a guy in injury time and walk-don't-run to the sideline tactic doesn't work? The reason for the extra minute of stoppage time was our last sub. Show a little bit of a jog to the sideline, and we win in spite of Bradley's gaffe. Stupidity!

Yet in the Argentina-Iran game, an Argentinian took almost two minutes to sub, and no time was added.

One of the things that makes it hard to sell Soccer to America - no rhyme or reason to added time.

Final games in the group stage starts today - Groups A and B up, with all teams in a group playing at same time

Only drama in group B is who is 1st and 2nd. Netherlands needs a win or tie to be first. Chile needs a win.

In Group A, barring a upset from Cameroon over Brazil, Brazil looks to advance. Croatia and Mexico are still battling it out for the other spot. A win or tie advances Mexico for sure.

Still can't believe we let that one get away. Can't believe that we turned over the ball like that with only seconds left to play. When I saw Ronaldo with the ball I was like "Noooooooooooooo!"

Alexi Lallas and **** Twellman making all these excuses. "Well, he was running through the jungle for 90+ minutes, and all the players had sweat dripping from their bodies before the game even started. He was just exhausted, you can't blame him there."

Um, YES YOU CAN! If he was so exhausted and had nothing left in the tank, with control of the ball ten yards clear of everyone and only 30 seconds left, why in the HELL wouldn't he just bomb the ball down the field? He does that, and the game's over. It was a MENTAL mistake, not a physical mistake, which makes me want to puke when I hear these American pundits whining and making excuses. I think they just don't want to bag on him, even though they realize he flubbed that game.

They point out that Yedlin could have let the ball run out of bounds to buy extra time, and he could have. A mistake, yes, but he's the one that set up the goal. I can live with that mistake from a rook. From Bradley? Unforgivable, and he well knows it.

I hate that heads up result is farther down in tiebreakers than goals scored. If anything the heads up result should be first. Maybe that is the American in me though. It should at the very least be ahead of goals scored. Ugh.

Usually I think you are a bit over the top in your assessment of players and how the game is played, but you are spot on this time. As soon as the goal scored, I wasn't stunned or angry. I said, 'That's what they get.' Stupid give away by Bradley. 3 central defenders and not one of them turned around to man mark any of them. Yes it was an amazing cross, but the time management was piss poor. It felt like a Cardinals game of old with our coach wasting time outs, throwing the ball at inopportune times, etc. Shame.
