Candidate #1 Cards asked for and received permission to interview Broncos HC Mike McCoy according to Schefter.

@AdamSchefter: Arizona and Chicago have asked for and received permission to interview Broncos OC Mike McCoy for their HC job. Will interview this weekend.

Not a fan of McCoy. This was Tebow's OC last year. Just because he was able to watch Manning be brilliant this year does not mean he is a good coach.

I wouldn't mind Billick at all. Managed a team with a dynamic DC who ran a 3-4. Offensive mind. Could be a good fit.

He was an offensive mind that got carried by his defense. I don't know how that improves on what we already have.

Speaking of Mike McKoy-----Anybody who could get real production from a Tim Tebow led offense deserves a good look by the FO. So far as Manning having such a great year, at least he had the good sense not to throw up hurdles that Manning had to overcome before he could do his job. So far, he has impressed by doing something with nothing, and then followed that up by not messing with a good thing. That would be an improvement over what we just had.

Ran the Vikings offense with Cunningham, Carter, & Moss. Won a Super Bowl in Baltimore. BALTIMORE.

Can manage larger than life personalities. Lewis, Suggs, etc...

Maneuvered many high profile free agents to Baltimore like Trevor Pryce.

Power run guy with a vertical passing attack.

3-4 defense. Rob Ryan, Marvin Lewis, Chuck Pagano in his coaching tree.

What is not to like?

They did lead the NFL in rushing in 2011. Their pass game wasn't good to say the least, but at least they showed the ability to run the football even though it was obvious that's what they wanted to do.

His offensive rankings with the Ravens:

Year Tm Yds Pts
2002 BAL 26 23
2003 BAL 21 8
2004 BAL 31 20
2005 BAL 24 25
2006 BAL 17 12
2007 BAL 22 24

For being an offensive guru, his offenses weren't anything special. I will grant that he gets points for all those other qualities you outlined, but he does not get credit for building even an average offense while he was a HC.

He said on the radio this morning that he's not real interested in coming back to coach. Something about it would take the right marriage / situation for him to consider coaching again. He doesn't like the grind anymore.

Dan Bickley ‏@danbickley
Best scenario: Ray Horton as head coach. Todd Haley gets permission to leave PIT, becomes Offensive Coordinator/Assistant head coach

Dan Bickley ‏@danbickley
But I don't see Michael Bidwill hiring a big-dollar coach
