I move that we make it a Condiment Law that Miracle Whip is not a condiment since it says salad dressing on the label.
But if I am eating beef than it is A1 Steak Sauce all the way.
Yeah, but just cause it goes on a sandwich doesn't make it a condiment. Turkey isn't a condiment.Correct, but only if used as such. Same with dressing/stuffing. My favorite sandwich of the year occurs after T-Day.
From top to bottom;
Slice of Mrs. D-Dogg's mother's homemade bread
Mayonnaise
layer of cranberry sauce
layer of stuffing
turkey
gravy

You've redeemed yourself a bit with this post, kid. Good job.I feel strongly about A1 Steak Sauce. I feel it masks the flavor of the meat. I always say "If you are using A1, spend a couple extra bucks and buy a better cut of meat.".
Does Scooby help you eat that??

By the same logic as my previous post, neither is stuffing or cranberry sauce. Those are sides.
Manlaw?

If you hash out the olive thing then it is a condiment, or at least a spread. I forget what that's called...but it's gross, too.Wanna hash out the olive thing?
Salad dressing IS a condiment.
Yup...that's how I feel. Something that GOES ON something=condiment.
Something that can not be consumed alone without looking like a freak.

What are people's feelings about Spinach Dip??
That's tricky. I might actually consider sitting down and eating some peanut butter. But, more importantly, I most certainly would eat a peanut butter sandwich...but never a mustard or Ketchup snadwich.Interesting. See, need a separate thread for that as well.
What about Peanut Butter?
Nope. "Dip" is it's own species, I think. What are people's feelings about Spinach Dip??

I say no. Peanut butter is not a condiment...but it's maybe as close to a condiment as you can get without actually being one.
I think so. You don't eat a stick of butter, thus, it's a condiment. What about butter on the bread? Is that a condiment?

BTW, this thread is killing time before my Stella. thanks.
I say yes because it would allow us to explore the differences and benefits of butter, margarine, Country Crock, etc.

I don't think cheese as a solid is a condiment, but it probably is in a liquid state. Looking at it in this light, cheese may be the most chameleon-like food on the table. It most certainly crosses over to the "dip" category as well.Pariah, That brings me back to melted cheese. One can eat cheese by itself, but one would not necessarily eat melted cheese by itself.
