Did you see the preview for tonight's show? Apparently something really bad happens to Abby.

Sure hope they don't get rid of her. She's awesome!

OMG i know she is one of my favorites on the show. I really wish her and Carter would have gotten things worked out. I still can't get over it that they are not together. UGH stupid writers.

ER to Return for Two More Years
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
March 11, 2005

The life span of NBC's ER is about to be extended by at least two more years, through the 2007-08 season, says The Hollywood Reporter. NBC is finalizing a deal to order two more seasons of the Warner Bros. TV drama series, shepherded for the past 11 seasons by executive producer John Wells.

NBC's current contract for the show already ran through the upcoming 2005-06 season. The new pact will cover the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.

ER season 1 and 2 has been released on DVD... but it's been almost a year since season 2 was released. What's the holdup!! :bang:

I didn't start watching ER until a couple of weeks ago and I am really enjoying it. I am through the first two seasons minus a few episodes here and there.

Season 3 is being released April 26, 2005. I wish the rest of the series was on DVD, because getting it off P2P would take forever (and they're FS).

I am glad you are enjoying it!

The early seasons were great, imo. The middle seasons... eh, but lately, the past 2 seasons have really been interesting to me.

And I know, I can't wait for April 26th to come... hell, I can't wait until all the seasons are released. It's gonna make me even more broke then I am :)

Sorry, Kate, but he will be back in 4 episodes.

(03-31) 15:12 PST Los Angeles (AP) --

The doctor is out: Noah Wyle is leaving "ER" as a regular cast member at the end of this season, NBC said Thursday.

Wyle, 33, the only original star who remained with the medical drama through its 11 years, will return for the next two seasons but only in four episodes each.

True love steals away his character, Dr. John Carter, who reunites in the May 12 episode with girlfriend Kem (Thandie Newton), a health administrator he met doing volunteer medical work in Africa.

Carter leaves Chicago's County General Hospital in the May 19 season finale.

"It's very sad for me. Noah and I have a lot of history together,""ER" executive producer John Wells told USA Today. "He's a wonderful actor and a wonderful man, and it's been great to watch him grow up and get married and have a family."

In 2004, Wyle said he intended to leave "ER" when his contract ended this season.

"I've just got other stuff going in my life right now," Wyle told "E! News Live" last September. "I've got a son, I've got family and friends that said goodbye to me 12 years ago and are wondering when I'm coming back, and this little urge to scratch a different kind of itch in my career, and it's just coming to the end of the character's run."

When the series debuted in September 1994, Wyle played the impressionable young resident in a cast that included Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Eriq La Salle, Julianna Margulies and Sherry Stringfield. As they departed, Wyle turned into the show's promotional centerpiece.

Stringfield returned to her role as Dr. Susan Lewis in 2001 after a five-year break.

The drama has been a durable performer for NBC, although it lost its No. 1 ratings status to newcomers including Fox's "American Idol." In head-to-head competition with CBS'"Without a Trace" at at 10 p.m. EST Thursday, it trails in total viewers.

"ER" has been renewed through the 2007-08 season.

yeah that's what I had heard, but this confirms it.

I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. I mean... him coming back will be a "YES!!" type deal or a "can we please move on?" type deal.

I hate Kem and Carter's character has really gone downhill.

David Duchovny came back halfway through a season and it just didn't work, imo. I'm guessing it'll be the same with Noah's character.

Well... Carter is gone.

I wish him and Abby could have talked more before he left.

I was kind of left with an "eh" feeling. This season was not one of the best seasons. I am interested to see how it's going to be without Carter though.

bring on season 12!!!

He'll be in 4 episodes each season over the next (and presumably last) 2 years.

I agree with ya, Kate. I was dissapointed in the season finale. It lacked something, espicially considering one of the main characters was pretty much departing the show.

Yes.. but he's gone from being a main character. That is foreign territory for ER.

So yes, Carter is gone.

John Leguizamo Joining NBC's ER
Source: TV Guide
August 29, 2005

TV Guide has learned that John Leguizamo is joining the cast of NBC's ER this season, marking his first major drama-series gig.

According to the magazine, the actor/comedian will play a new doctor at County General in at least 12 episodes beginning in late October. ER producers have been on the prowl all summer for a big-name actor to fill the void left by Noah Wyle.

ER premieres on Thursday, September 22.

ER is way past its prime. NBC needs to put it to rest and then come back in a few years with something fresh and original.
