Even if it is ligament damage they still have "3" weeks before the start of the regular season to hopefully get him healthy. What is the avg. time missed when this type of injury occurs???

Go Cards/ America!

If he blew out his ACL, he's done for the season without question.

I hope it is only a sprain.

They just said on the TV broadcast, that the trainers indicated X-rays were negative, but there is definitely ligament damage -

MRI tommorrow or Monday...

What a bummer..... :(

Well, Wakefield better step it up!

Pasch and Mistler are reporting that KVB is out for the season, that it is ligament damage, though whether its an ACL or MCL will not be known until an MRI is done back here in PHX.

Not good news at all.:(

looks like johnson and alton moore will get roster spots (along with the obvious DEs pace, wakefield and king. I thought Alton Moore played well tonight. I was ready to give up on him - but maybe I shouldnt count him out of the mix. Unless we bring in a veteran DE.

Quinn had like a good day or two at camp..but I think Johnson and moore are more athletic and have more upside.. Quinn made a tackle or two..but it was strange..he was on receivers 10 yards downfield. I did not see him getting much penetration into the backfield - which most of the other defensive ends are getting.

This is a big injury but not devastating for the Cards (especially when you look at what happened to Vick in Atlanta). I like the Cards D-Line depth and KVB honestly hadnt done too much in pre-season to this point.

I disagree. The loss of KVB is huge. Big things were expected of him this year, and we don't have THAT much depth at DE.

I just choked up my Kool Aid

Man, talk about your bad injuries. Before anything. I want to say I hope he comes back from the injury. Regardless of who he is with and how long it take to come back. As for the team it is a huge blow. He seemed to be a general type out there, and a has a big fan base in Arizona.

Very bad news indeed.

King? Maybe but he is better at DT.
Wakefield?

Not a peaceful evening at all :thumbdown

This injury is just about the worst thing that could have happend. We can't fill this void from within. We need to bring in a veteran DE. I know that won't happen until the final week of cuts but we need to have our scouts out there right now narrowing the field of potential candidates.

Now with two bad knees i dont see this kid playing again. A real setback but now i think we have to sign mcneil or wilkenson( i think they are both still avaiable). IMO if we sign a DT we can move bryant to DE along with pace and have the signed guy and Davis at DT. We will never know what this kid could do. A bunch of bad brakes for the kid, i really feel bad for him.

some of you amaze me with your premature assessments.

Nothing has been stated for sure yet.
A couple of reporters mouth some opinions and judgements, and everybody goes bonkers.

How about you all wait until something is officially determined, one way or the other before writing KVB off in any way.

Amazing, simply amazing.

Excuse me but have you read anything? Pasch and mistler said his season was done. Ligament damage is serious. It is most likey his MCL. So you think he plays this year? It has been stated that there is ligament damage, which any way you look at it keeps him out at least half the year.

I really feel for KVB, but this just means that we will have Pace going full time and Wakefield/Johnson/Moore platooning on the other side.

I think we will be fine, as long as this is our only injury.

HAHA thats what i just posted on another thread. Move bryant to DE and sign big daddy no matter how much it costs.

Supposedly Wilkinson is close to signing with the Lions.

If it is just a MCL tear ... he could miss just the first 5-6 games depending on the severity. Lets all hope its just that so he can help later in the season.

Vanden Bosch tears ligaments in left knee

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By John Clayton
ESPN.com

Cardinals defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, who blew out his right knee in 2001, suffered torn ligaments to his left knee in the first half of the Cardinals exhibition game against the Chargers.

The injury could be season-ending, but the team won't know until Monday.

"We find out what the prognosis is Monday and if he's not there, I'm just sick,'' Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis said. "The time he laid out there on the grass, you knew there was something wrong.''

Vanden Bosch, a second-round choice in 2001, was just starting to feel more comfortable playing on his reconstructed right knee and had made a transition from right defensive end to the left side. Vanden Bosch suffered the knee injury during the second quarter of the game and stayed on the field for a couple of minutes while trainers worked on the knee.

Vanden Bosch was able to walk off the field without assistance, but he was immediately taken to the locker room for X-rays. It is not initially known if the injury is season-ending, but it would appear to be serious.

"There is nothing I can do about it and nothing he can do about it,'' McGinnis said. "He'll take an MRI Monday. You know, that's the chances you take when you line up and play the game.''

The Cardinals know it will be hard replacing their starting left end if he's out for the season.

"Still, we've got to play, but if you are asking me if there is anybody out there on the street as good as Kyle Vanden Bosch, there isn't,'' McGinnis said.
