i was along the 3rd base line. there was some fat hessian that anytime you opened your mouth, he gave you the look of death. he was wearing a Jim Kelly jersey from the USFL days so I guess he is way more "minor league" and was a real cornholio. Those games need more fans making noise. I've been to little league games where there was more fan noise. I'm thinking of bringing a drum or something, or maybe even some cowbells. We need the "Lets go miners" chant..and they need an organ or a fake one at least. i'll have to check out the 1st base side next game. i was gonna go tonight but the Suns are on. Maybe Saturday for the 4 tix, 4 dogs, 4 cokes. I really want them to take off but after last nights crowd I seriously have my doubts.

Rickey Henderson plays for San Diego and I think Chris Collins from ASU plays for Surprise. I was thinking of going and checking out Surprise to see if they are getting the same type of crowd, plus I havent been to their stadium yet.

5-2 win. 2 foul balls - 1 in the corner bleachers, 1 out in the field South of the stadium.

Also got a t-shirt that was launched into the stands.

I've got to start listening to the opening drive on KDUS - I heard through the grapevine that the PA Announcer is on that show. Someone said he told about Les Lancaster changing the Miners' GM's tire out in the parking lot after the game... - - My wife and I were there.

P.S. azsouthendzone - I got 2 foul balls (one in the corner bleachers, one upstairs by the offices) and one practice ball that was overthrown by one of the Japanese players. Gave away the 2 foul balls, but kept the practice ball. It is really old and tattered, like they'd practiced with it forever.

I saw on the net that they were supposed to have a team from Tijuana. Too bad that didnt work out. That team usually sells out its games. Hopefully they get a good crowd tonight and hopefully Diggz and Cleatus turn some double plays.

Double header - first game starts at 4:05, just minutes after I throw out the first pitch.

I talked to a guy named Mark at the game last night. He came up to me after seeing me give a kid a foul ball in the upper deck area. He joked about not ever getting one in his 32 years of being a fan. He is an Az native and used to go to Giants/Firebirds games. Later a ball got hit up near him and I saw him run and get it. He was thrilled. A few minutes later, I yelled to him and asked if he got a ball - he said "Yeah, but I gave it away to a kid." :notworthy

We should organize a group outing to a game. Get a group rate on some tix...if we get 20 or more - I'm pretty sure they'll announce our group later in the game.

They plan on expanding to include 10-12 teams (from the 8 initial teams). A team in Northern Mexico (Tucson/Tijuana...? ) and at least one in Southern Oregon. I know another possible location, but was told not to say.

Throwing out the first pitch was very cool. Right on target. Got to keep the ball and get it autographed.

Then the Miners went out and beat the Samurai Bears in game 1, and lost to them in game 2. Both were good games and it was a very fun afternoon/night. Record now 5-5.

Got two foul balls - one right to us and another out of the park. Gave them both to some of the other regulars that sit with us.

One couple that sits by us at the games got me a baseball-themed Build-A-Bear for my birthday! He's got a birth certificate and his name is Pinetar. Too cool.

Next, the team has a series in Chico, Ca. (I know there are some posters near there - go check out some minor league ball !!) Mesa Miners vs. Chico Outlaws.

Also - at each game, they give away trips to Vegas or a chance to roll huge dice for a t-shirt, hat, or even season tickets, etc. The winners of all the on-field events get prizes (Miners' gear or gift certificates, etc).

I have a limited number of free minor league baseball tickets.

There's a game tonight (Fri 10th) at 6:35 between the Mesa Miners and the Fullerton Flyers at Hohokam Park in Mesa. It's dollar hot dog night and there are plenty of activities for the kids (dizzy bat races, water ballon toss/catch, limbo, etc) when they're not busy chasing foul balls.

I also have some tickets for tomorrow night's game (Sat 11th) - first pitch at 4:05 - double-header, with 2 7 inning games.

Hohokam Park is located in Mesa between Brown/McKellips and Country Club/Mesa Dr on Center, it's where the Chicago Cubs train.

These tickets are absolutely free.

To get them, simply stop by Norland Mattress located at 900 N. Scottsdale Rd. in Tempe - today from now until 5pm, or tomorrow from 10-3:30.

During the series, my wife and I had a blast talking with Brian Giles, the Flyers first base/hitting coach. He played with the Mets, White Sox, Brewers, Indians, and Mariners. Good guy.
