M&S on cover of May 30 TV Guide
There are 4 collectors covers of the May 30-June 5 TV Guide. The subject is 25 Top Cult Shows Ever and the four covers are Buffy, The Simpsons, The X-Files (DD & GA shot from EW) and Star Trek.
Star Trek is named the #1 cult show.
XF is #2 with this description (and a small publicity shot of S1 M&S)
The X-Files (1993-2002)
FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) tracked down all sorts of monsters and aliens. But the most terrifying foes were the government bureaucrats who stood in their way. A horror story for a paranoid age.
Cult-ability: The series spawned a feature film (maybe more to come), a catchphrase ("The truth is out there"), at least 40 official books, 80 comics, three video games and innumerable Web sites. Says Mitch Pileggi, who played Assistant Director Skinner, "I did jury duty, and in his summation the defense attorney said, 'Everybody knows the truth is out there,' I thought, 'Oh, man! What's happened here?'"
