P2 made it in automatically even when he sucked. Every year there are guys who played much better who gets missed for a guy with a more well known name or who plays for a bigger franchise.

QBs especially seem to be dominated by guys with lots of splash plays and runners get an advantage too.

Its pretty crazy Tom Brady didn't make it last year for example. Dude won a SB with a new franchise and got beat out by a guy who had 6-7 good games.
I’m not saying players are always the right picks I’m saying if you look at the average talent level of pro bowlers it’s absolutely a step above the average nfl player. You can point out one-offs all you want but these are more often exceptions that prove the rule.

You’re ignoring an elephant in the room. Stafford’s experience verses kylers. And mind you, I’m okay with kyler playing limited preseason minutes.
The problem with the preseason is that many established veterans aren't going to play, so you don't get to see the full product. Teams hold out guys that have hang nails in the preseason. The experience gained from preseason games isn't worth the risk really.

Two things: don’t put any stock in preseason. The only thing it shows is who can’t play.
The other is, pro bowls do matter. They’re not the top measuring stick but bad players don’t make it.

The only games Im concerned about starts Sept 12 against the Titans. These preseason games are just glorified practices that no one other than bubble players trying to make the team care about putting out an effort.

I end up feeling pulled by both poles here. I don’t know that it’s a bad thing for a younger QB to get as many reps as possible, but I also don’t want to risk him in meaningless games. But I’m also mindful of what Carson used to say about getting hit getting him ready for the season.

He's had plenty of achievements in his first 2 years. Not too shabby considering how little college experience he had.

Had 61 combined TDs (rushing and passing) in his first 32 games, trailing only Dan Marino (68) and Cam Newton (62) for the most in a player's first two seasons in NFL history.

Became the first player in NFL history with 7,500+ passing yards, 45+ TD passes and 15+ TD runs in his first two NFL seasons, and had the most completions (724) in NFL history in a player's first two seasons.

  • Earned "NFC Offensive Player of the Week" honors three times in 2020 – at NY Jets (Week 5), vs. Seattle (Week 7) and vs. Philadelphia (Week 15) – becoming the first player in team history named "Player of the Week" three times in a single season.
  • Set an NFL record for the most games with a passing and rushing TD in a season with nine in 2020 and became the first player in NFL history with both a passing and rushing TD in five consecutive games (Games 5-9) that season. Murray (10) trails only Jim Hart (11 in 199 games) for the most such performances in team history.

This! Trubisky, Anderson, and Young were indeed baffling selections, but they did win a lot in those years.
Foles had 27 TDs, 2 INTs, and a 119 Passer Rating the year he made the Pro Bowl - certainly worthy.

Murray had a very good season last year. Doesn't mean he'll repeat it every year or improve on it this year, but that doesn't mean his season wasn't Pro Bowl worthy or that making a Pro Bowl is meaningless.

I guess I’m the only one left that thinks 4 preseason games are important, And that starters must participate for the better of the team and the season. i remember NFL as a child in the 60s with a shorter season. Each game was even more important than each game in a contemporary season,(but are they?) the teams first game meant as much as the last game, we are waiting for modern teams to improve the first 1/4 of each season - when they got better as a TEAM in the preseason. People get hurt in training, cops, soldiers, nurses, even American gladiator - they are paid for training ! Paid a lot!
Not trying to be funny but you will get preseason games. Unfortunately it will be the first 3 games of the season.

Brady & K1 passing stats where not that far apart when Pro Bowl got announced. Of course the rushing stats pushed K1 ahead. Ppl forget that Brady was up & down until he turned it on towards end of season
Yea Brit is off with this one. Pro Bowl voting is done after week 14 and Kyler was pretty clearly ahead of Brady.

And if we're being honest Brady got to beat up on the Lions, Falcons (twice) who had lame duck/fired coaches/all but shut it down at the end of the year.

This board collectively is bashing Kingsbury and Murray over preseason, but fawn over McVay all of the time....and McVay said Stafford will never play a preseason game...
Lol... does the obvious REALLY needed to be stated here?

McVay has proven time and time again that whatever his way is, it works in making a winner in the regular season that has also had post-season success, despite having a QB you previously deemed trash. Maybe that’s why people are fawning over McVay as opposed to questioning KK, who has proven time and time again that he can’t put put a consistent winner together in college or the pros, despite having GREAT #1 pick level talent at QB.

I know you’re probably going to come back with some “cool story Bro” gaslight but seriously, if you’re legitimately wondering why KK gets flack at this point versus people trusting McVay, you’re drinking drano at this point.

Bad players absolutely make the PB at times.

Except....despite all his excellence, he still couldn't design an offense to make Goff effective.

The Rams won last year because of Brandon Staley, not because of McVay's offense. And McVay didn't really want to play any of this QBs so this isn't a function of trusting Stafford or some other nonsense.

The point is that it's a smart decision not to play Murray at all, but people here are bashing KK just to bash him. There are plenty of VALID reasons to bash him, but this is not one of them.

Oh yeah and....cool story bro :p

Your is such a historically bad take that it's almost mind-boggling. His offense is so good that it dragged Jered Goff to the playoffs three out of the past four years, sent him to the Pro Bowl twice, and went to the Super Bowl once. Under McVay, the Rams have been 1st, 2nd, 11th, and 22nd in points scored.

They had no deep game at all last year. Their whole offense was underneath short stuff which is why yards and YPA were down.

McVay is one of the best offensive minds in the league who changes his offense to get the most out of what he has available.

For all the talk of Kliff being an "offensive genius" he's only the 3rd best offensive mind in our division and unless he improves this year he might well be 4th come the end of it.

Seriously? He's had immaculate offenses the past 3 seasons, but last year is the only one that mattered? C'mon, Krang.
OR one could say that the Rams have been partially figured out by better defensive minds. McVay's offense isn't overly complex and relies on misdirection and play action.

We will see if this analysis is true or not this year with Stafford instead of Goff, but the current trend is that McVay's offense went from 1st to 22nd with a lot of the same players.

Not funny but true, like we can win the nfcw by 3 games - preseason done right and the team should peak opening day, before the first injury - after bubble wrapping starters, starters are at risk to get hurt more.

Buffalo played their starters the whole first half today and KC at least into the 2nd, including the QBs
