For the last three years I've been tracking the stats for rookies as a group (and indivually). I just took my first cut at this heralded rookie class. As a group they are doing about the same as the previous two classes, which is to say they suck. About the only stat where there are any standouts is playing time - Wiggings, Parker, Elfridge Payton, Zach Lavine and Shabazz Napier. The 25 first round picks who've got on the floor at all are averaging 79% of the league average on my offensive rating stat, which is similar to offensive PER. (The stat is weighted by playing time when averaged over a group of players.)
Interestingly, last years first round picks of whom 23 got PT, are averaging 96.5 % if the league average now. Last year at this time they were slightly worse than this group. The 2012 1st round picks are at 102% of league average now.
One surprising development for the 2013 class is that A. Bennet is average after being a disaster his rookie year. Shabazz Muhammed has also improved greatly to fairly well above average. Rudy Gobert has the highest rating and is blocking 3.5 shots per 36. Its no surprise to me that Gorgui Dieng has the second highest rating.
Not many surprises in the 2012 class... Davis, Lillard, and Barnes are killing it. Tyler Zeller has a very high rating but his minutes are limited - 20 mpg.
