With the loss to Denver yesterday it means that:

- The Cardinals all but locked up a Top 5 draft pick in 2007 draft.
- The Cardinals all but locked up a 4th place schedule for the 2007 season.
- The Cardinals will have a new coaching staff in 2007. This was all but locked up before yesterday but was re-affirmed when I watched Jay Cutler's opening TD pass be basically the same call (fake inside handoff and bootleg roll out deep pass) that Denver used to score on the Cardinals 1st string defense this past pre-season!

All in all the 2007 season is shaping up to be exciting as I truly feel this team is a "quality" coaching staff away from being very special!

Happy Holidays! :clapping:

Dunno...with a win we drop in the draft game. Plus, San Diego's record hurts our strength of schedule ratings.

We will probably end up picking around 8-12 with some craziness in the last two games.

Or, we will stay at 4 and see Thomas off the board, and overpay for somebody else.

Did anyone post the colorful broadcast chart/map yet? Chicago might get the Cards/9ers game this week. Win or lose I dig watching #7.

Oh Tim you young lad you. Only a quality coaching staff away from being very special. That young man is an order that is as tall as the Sears building in Chicago for this organization.

Even with our luck/success in drafting Leinart, this is how I see the next draft happening for us too.

Nothing good ever comes from losing. And I'm not looking forward to next year until this one is over.

I can see your point Tim, but I am so tired of (always) looking forward to next year.

I think I might totally ignore the draft talk this year until mid April. Its just too painful to go through this every single year. Just hire a decent coach and then I can forget the pain of this past year.

Well at least the offseason wont be as slow as past years. Especially last offseason when FA was held back for so long trying to get a new labor agreement done.

We have GM search, coach search, assistant coach search, Green drags ownership through mud, cuts and re-signings of players according to new coaching staff, FA, Draft. Fun Stuff.:grabs:

Those 4 months are just going to fly by.;)

Thank God for the St.Louis Cardinals. Their success takes away some of the sting from the football team's failures.

Let's hope we have a GM search awaiting us joe. I am not gonna take this for granted knowing who is in charge and the acting one we have now is a cronie and is well thought of by ownership. I hope you are right.

I root for the baseball Cardinals, too, but it is no where near my passion for the football Cards. And I'm tired of always looking to next year but I can't resist.

No offense, but I strongly disagree, especially if anybody in the Cardinal organization agrees with you. The best I can say is there is a small silver lining in that it assures a complete clean slate come January. Over and over again I've heard knowledgeable NFL people say that a strong finish builds the foundation for the offseason and next year.
And one of the highlights of recent years was the last-second win over Minnesota knocking them out of the playoffs. I'd like nothing better than knocking SF out of the playoffs this weekend. Playing spoiler isn't the greatest role in the world, but it's better than nothing.

We have seen how much having high draft picks, weak schedules, and new coaching staffs have helped the Cardinals in the past. I don't think there is really any way we can call the latest loss a "very good thing" at all.
Besides if the front office pays half as much attention to football as the people on this board then they should have already decided to cut Green at the end of the season.

Just force yourself to become a Cubs fan like me...then it becomes "Tradition" and you get exactly what you expect to begin the season and what you should have already known when the season ends...it is a predictable cycle that reduces the stress as the season ends about 4-5 weeks ahead of the competition so I can have some free time that is planned ahead!:bang:

:( It is so "Damm" pathetic that this time of the year we talk about the great draft pick we will get for 2007. We have to clean house, I mean from GM to Coach and all Asst. Coaches, Owner (we all know that will never happen). :bang:

What does this mean?

There have been some reports locally that Bill Jr. is going to get to have more of a say in team decisions this year. These reports seem to have some meat to them since it was reported last week that Bill Jr. was seen watching practice for the first time in years.
