I know I have the lowest post count of almost anyone here, but I’m going to throw out my $0.02 anyway. If I was GM for a (very busy) day, this would be the plan:

OFFENSE

QB - Trade RFA McCown to the Packers for RFA Craig Nall. Nall has the strong arm DG likes, plus has better pocket presence than Josh. With Favre appearing to be coming back for at least one year, and possibly more, Nall is hungry to lead a team but it won’t be the Packers. DG likes "hungry"and Packer QB’s have higher success ratios than other programs. I would then sign the cheaper of Brad Johnson or Gus Ferrotte, since they have a working knowledge of Green’s system. I like Navarre and would like to see more him. I would then let these three battle it out for their ultimate position on the depth chart.

RB - I would trade Shelton to the Bills for Henry. While I would listen to Skkorp’s council on Shelton’s value, in my mind I would be happy to remove a potential problem in exchange for a potential solution to our RB woes. Shipp and Hambrick would remain and everyone else, bye-bye. Ayanbadejo stays as FB, but I’m on the fence with Hodgins, who might be a camp cut.

WR - If you were with me up to now, here’s where I’m probably going to lose you. I would trade Boldin, Starks and this years 2nd to Minnesota for Randy Moss. I would then trout slap myself, but here is my reasoning: Boldin and Fitz are just too darn similar to pay both of them the big bucks Q deserves. Q is ultimately going to be unhappy here, so why not trade him before it becomes a problem. A signing of Randy Moss makes the kind of splash that this Franchise needs right now. Cardinal management needs to market to the people who don’t post on this board. They need a circus act to attract the people who can only name five players, and Moss’s name is one of them. Q might be a fan favorite, but he is a fan favorite of the 20,000 who currently go to a game. For better or worse, Moss would sell an additional 20k in seats and almost guarantee us a spot on MNF. Oh and by the way, we would have Randy freakin’ Moss on our team. For the x’s & o’s guys, Moss fills a real need on this team, as he is the burner we need to make Fitz and Johnson more effective.

OL - I’m drafting help here in the later rounds and probably keeping Clement until his contract expires. There’s a spark in both Wells and Bridges I like, but Spikes is gone. Davis stays at LT and I’m crossing my fingers like mad that the Wakefield experiment works. With a better running game, coupled with a true deep threat, our line starts to look pretty darn good.

TE - Sorry it didn’t work out Fred, bye. I like Edwards and I’m bringing in someone’s camp casualty for a backup if Golliday doesn’t pan out.

If I’m not banned for heresy, I’ll post my crazy plan for defense.

A nice offering, Jeff. Keep 'em comin'.

I'm not a Henry fan, and I'd be pissed if they traded Boldin. But what do I know?

Whats crazy is that Craig Nall led the Cards to 3 consecutive super bowl wins in my Madden 05' franchise. McCown ended up with Green Bay where he led them to the playoffs year after year. Don't know much about the real Nall, but the computer version is awesome! He has had a good mentor in Favre. As far as trading Q for Moss... you're crazy. I see your point, but i can't stand Moss and I love Q. and yes... bye bye #85

I am completely ignorant to this guy so okay. I'd trust Green if he did this but then that leaves us pretty screwed if it doesn't work out. We'd be turning ot a draft pick or Navarre very soon (I'm presuming that King is gone)

Allow me! :trout:

I don't think that Randy would be a fit in Arizona (state and team) where Phoenicians don't particularly care for loudmouth athletes who pop up on the police blotter. Wouldn't his salary be more than what we'll end up giving Boldin? And I think Boldin and Fitz will be a wrecking crew once we get a QB in here who can look downfield or at least count down his receivers and a running game to keep the secondary honest.

I agree, however the same could have been said about Charles Barkley and that worked out fairly well. Someone posted last week that Moss's contract could be reworked to make it fairly cap friendly (but still expensive - I know). As to your last sentence, I agree that our current starting QB would make this trade pointless.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm new at this game.

I would trade Johnson instead of Q. He likes the slot. I don't know much about the QB. But if he was brought in if Green feels he would be better and we had and old pro Garcia/Johnson? I would be more apt to buy in. I would not get rid of the Starks man just yet. He has real value as a number 1 back up or strong nickle.

I would rather trade Fitz and his big contract for Moss. Boldin is the shiznit.

Henry sucks he's not explosive and doesn't get big runs.

Craig M-Fing Nall are you joking. Who the h*ll is that. He's a joke, why do you think the Packers are always looking for a Favre replacement.

I would much rather:

#1 Sign Brad Johnson

#2 Trade our 2nd rounder for Michael Bennett

#3 Sign a run-stuffing D-tackle

#4 Sign a veteran guard

#5 Trade down in the draft for a lower 1st round and a second rounder

#6 Grab a CB (Pac Man or Carlos Rogers and QB (Orton or Walters) with our 1st and 2nd picks

#7 Grab a DE, FS or OG with the rest of our picks.

I dont hate it, but I dont think your gonna get Moss for the little amount you propose. Latest I hear from the Jets folks says they are talking about giving up Victor Hobson, Ray Mickens, and 2 first rounders for Moss. I doubt we get him cheaper than that!

Totally agree with your post about Nall. Hell, they even tried to see if Tim Couch could replace him and he sucks.
I would be thrilled if the rest of your plan worked out too.

Yessss! Only 65 posts and I've got the record! :D The down side is: Now that I've reached the top, what do I have to look forward to?

Seriously, though, I guess my opinion of Josh must be somewhat lower than yours.

Good post.

But why do you, and many others on this board feel Boldin, and Fitz are similar players?

I see them as quite different, almost complete opposites of each other.

Peace
