I am stunned by the poll results.

Not me. It was a poorly worded poll. Asking if it's possible...yes it's possible to say it's not possible for any player to not become elite after 1 year is asinine.

If the poll read "do you expect Skelton to become a franchise QB someday" you'd see different results I bet.

Hall? If he is even on the roster in September then I agree and CKW needs to start polishing his resume.

Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford played on the biggest stage possible in college. Under intense spotlights their entire college careers. In the biggest game of the season Bradford was 19-36-155 with no TDs and an INT. 4.3 yards per attempt. I wonder if Rams fans are calling him Captain checkdown.

In the last two games of the season McCoy turned the ball over 6 times.

Let's give our small spotlight guy at least one season working with the first team before we toss him out with the garbage.

Hall will be on the roster by virtue of the fact that he has been in the offense, can still develop into something (not as likely as Skelton), and is cheap. He wont be more than a 3rd stringer, practice squad member and scout team leader, as long as we can sign/trade for a veteran starter.

As for Skelton, I really dont understand your comparison to McCoy and Bradford. By playing on the big stage, they have a competitive advantage over Skelton. It shows seeing as Bradford and McCoy played better. And Bradford is nowhere near his ceiling IMO.

Im not saying Skelton will never become anything, but we are at a "win now" situation. Is the team going to be patient with a young QB developing after a 5-11 season? Are fans going to be patient? Is Fitz going to be content with Skelton as our field general? Enough to re-sign? These are all legitimate questions the team has to ask itself moving forward. If we get a more seasoned QB via trade or free agency, the chance of having a productive passing offense is much higher than if we gamble on Skelton's progress.

Moreover, we can still develop Skelton while we have a veteran on staff. If, let's say, we sign Bulger. Obviously, he is not the long-term answer, but it gives Skelton more time to become a solid QB.

Here is the comparison. Both Bradford and McCoy with their huge competitive advantage over Skelton struggled as rookies. So we shouldn't be too harsh in our judgement of a guy who played at Fordham and had few reps with the first team offense.

Hall doesn't belong in the NFL. To continue to let him play is gross negligence on the part of his employer. The guy plays with a lot of heart but he is too small to play that way in today's NFL. He's a real risk to get seriously injured.

Gotcha. We are on the same page, but like I said, are we (the collective fan base, not just you and I) patient enough to wait for him to develop and be our starter in 2011? Because there is a more than likely chance we are a sub .500 team again if he starts, disappoints and we have no parachute.

I like our chances better with Kolb and even Orton or Bulger than I do with Skelton. Even still, with all of the rumors swirling around about the aforementioned, I dont think we'll see Skelton starting except in the event of injury.

Anything less than a playoff slot in our abysmal division is inexcusable, especially for a fickle fan base like Arizona. If we struggle early, expect the first blackout at UofP to come soon.

There are a lot of QBs who dont have ideal physical traits, such as height and muscle mass, but make it work anyway. You can't teach tall, but you can certainly send the guy to the gym and give him some Myoplex to increase his weight and make him more durable. I knew the kid was going to struggle this year. It was no surprise. But we are willing to write off Hall and not Skelton? I think Skelton should be 2nd string, but you have to at least let Hall have a chance to stay on the roster and be the #3. Like you said, he plays with heart, he just needs to adjust to the speed of the game, like Skelton. Besides, with the absence of many quality UDFAs (many going to other leagues) and the likeliness of trading for or signing only one quality QB, the team will probably be forced to keep Hall on the roster.

Guess what folks almost every QB has gone through short stretches where he completed less than 50% of their passes. Most of these QB's had the oppurtunity to work with their first team offense from day 1. Skelton was thrown to the fire by Whiz because he had no other option. In his 4 starts he averaged 30 pass a agame, which is allot for a rookie(Bradford havg. 37 McCoy avg 28). He had a week with the first team offense. His highest completeion % was 56 vs SF on the last game of the season. There is no guarentee he will be our starter next year, although he knows the system. At this time he is our best option and we should be discussing this post week 8 next year. The better question is did we get enough help to allow our QB to be successful.
