Here is the comparison. Both Bradford and McCoy with their huge competitive advantage over Skelton struggled as rookies. So we shouldn't be too harsh in our judgement of a guy who played at Fordham and had few reps with the first team offense.
Gotcha. We are on the same page, but like I said, are we (the collective fan base, not just you and I) patient enough to wait for him to develop and be our starter in 2011? Because there is a more than likely chance we are a sub .500 team again if he starts, disappoints and we have no parachute.
I like our chances better with Kolb and even Orton or Bulger than I do with Skelton. Even still, with all of the rumors swirling around about the aforementioned, I dont think we'll see Skelton starting except in the event of injury.
Anything less than a playoff slot in our abysmal division is inexcusable, especially for a fickle fan base like Arizona. If we struggle early, expect the first blackout at UofP to come soon.
Hall doesn't belong in the NFL. To continue to let him play is gross negligence on the part of his employer. The guy plays with a lot of heart but he is too small to play that way in today's NFL. He's a real risk to get seriously injured.
There are a lot of QBs who dont have ideal physical traits, such as height and muscle mass, but make it work anyway. You can't teach tall, but you can certainly send the guy to the gym and give him some Myoplex to increase his weight and make him more durable. I knew the kid was going to struggle this year. It was no surprise. But we are willing to write off Hall and not Skelton? I think Skelton should be 2nd string, but you have to at least let Hall have a chance to stay on the roster and be the #3. Like you said, he plays with heart, he just needs to adjust to the speed of the game, like Skelton. Besides, with the absence of many quality UDFAs (many going to other leagues) and the likeliness of trading for or signing only one quality QB, the team will probably be forced to keep Hall on the roster.
