Everyone is talking about Turks "re-slump". After tearing it up for a stretch, he is back to not producing and making stupid decisions. I am not sure the disappointment is with JRich as much as the overall result of the trade.
I was wondering about that, too. After a good start with Orlando, his contribution has been marginal. I wonder if he has lost it physically or emotionally.

and it REALLY doesn't help us in this day and age where high schoolers are not available during the draft. it's very rare these days that a team ends up with a superstud surprise in the teens. in the days of the high schoolers it was more probable b/c there was a big risk with those players, you just didn't know what you might get. hence a kobe could fall into the low teens. that doesn't happen anymore. and, scouting has seemingly gotten a lot better too. sure there are your occasional boozer/arenas guys that sneak through, but those are rare. who are the last teen-selected superstars?
Yea the high school thing has definitely screwed over many teams. We could be one of em.

I am not sure what Orlando expects. Their offense basically consists of throwing in to Howard and he makes a move on the hoop, unless he is too tired and then he kicks it out to a shooter.

Its tough also when your inside main offense is such a poor foul shooter.

The Olajuwon Rockets won two titles that way. I haven't watched enough of the Magic to understand what their problem is this season.

I guess their problem is that Howard isn't Olajuwon.

Well, there is a big difference between Olajuwon and Howard when it comes to offense. Olajuwon was one of the most skilled (if not THE most skilled) player in the low post. "Dream shake" and that little turn-around fade-away jumper were unstoppable. He also had the ability to face up and put the ball on the floor.

Don't get me wrong, Dwight Howard is one of my favorite players in the league, but he is no Hakeem Olajuwon, especially when it comes to offense.

His free throw shooting is his achilles heel. Thats why he gets mauled constantly--its an effective tactic and eventually the refs quit calling the fouls.

Some of the Boston players should have been arrested for assault Sunday the way they were fouling Howard.

It is not just freethrow shooting, Howard is simply not that good offensive player on his own.

Also Olajuwon had Jordan retire and the Suns CHOKING both years. The Rockets were probably the worst regular season team along with the recent Miami Heat that won a title.

That's true. If not for Jordan playing baseball and Charles playing golf (36 holes on playoff game days) either the Bulls or Suns should have won it all.

Wow it is getting worse..

Yeah why would you look to trade one of our wing players when you can have one or two sitting on the bench doing nothing while we have other holes.

Because trading guys that don't do anything doesn't help you fill holes. The Suns are trying so hard to get you to hate them, but yet you still post over and over, and usually the same negative spin (and always with the same result: DRAFT!).

They have 2 picks this summer. I figured you'd at least be happy about that, but I think outside of Germany winning the World Cup, it's going to be tough to satisfy you at all.

I still think we should look at getting Josh Smith. He is definitely a starting, even all-star caliber pf who rebounds and plays very good defense. Atlanta really needs a big man--maybe a trade that includes a combo of Pietrus, Warrick and Lopez and a pick.

Josh Smith IS a big man, and a really good one at that. Why would they trade him for table scraps?

And again, why do they trade him for table scraps? I understand their reasoning for exploring a trade to do what you say, but why actually trade for our junk?

I got the idea from some Hawks fans who are really high on getting Lopez. Of course they wanted Nash and Lopez for Smith and a 1st round pick (plus another player). But with the lockout looming Nash might be playing his last full year with us right now. They might take Warrick, Dragic, and Lopez. A lot of teams around the league like Goran.

Hawks fans obviously are delusional then. :D Anyway, I am certainly not content with having Dowdell as our primary backup point guard. Are you? Especially with Nash maybe being gone at some point.

No, but it might be easier to get another pg the caliber of Dragic than a pf the caliber of Smith.

Maybe true, especially if we could draft someone like Kemba Walker or something. We would also need to find a backup C as well as backup PG, because Channing can't cover both backup C and PF.

And we've been talking about Josh Smith for months now, and not just this season. Has Atlanta ever hinted that they would seriously look into moving him?

There was some talk few months ago about Hawks possibly having to trade Smith because of the money they threw at JJ and Horford, which makes sense, but I don't see what they would want from the Suns. VC+ picks for Smith+ another bad contact?

I guess it's possible, but I don't see it happening.

I think the talk is fairly natural since they have 3 starting caliber pf's and no center. Media and fans (and players fathers, see the comments from Tito Horford on Realgm) are just wanting to balance the team out. Smith seems to be the player that could bring the most in return.

and it's this phrase that automatically eliminates the suns from the discussion. they don't want dragic. they don't want lopez. i don't care what some hawks fans said. that trade has ZERO chance of happening.

ATL would likely also want us take on the horrible contracts of Pachulia and Marvin Williams.

Marvin Williams at least is a very talented and still young player. The contract is not that bad.

I would think Atlanta would want to keep Smith or Williams. They certainly would not want to deal both.
