According to Rod Graves, there were opportunities to move down to #10 but he preferred the Saints TWO first rounders to some lower extra picks.

Then he expected to trade down again with the #18 pick but having already traded the #37, he didn't have the security of knowing he could get the player he wanted with what now was the 54th pick.

Rod and McGinnis virtually admitted they reached to get Calvin Pace because of tyhe run on defernsive linemen.

The Cardinals gambled big and lost, completely misreading the run on defensive linemen.

The degree of reporter disgust and the amount of open ridicule here at Cards headquarters is a little surprising to someone who has never done this before.

I,m sure that heads are spinning at HQ. Are the Cardinal faithful gathering yet to rape and pillage the place? I heard that Jackson's cleared out real quick after the picks. Maybe RG and DM should put some body armor on.

So they gambled. Lost. Then compounded it by reaching for a need player instead of picking the best player available. Yep, they deserve all the derision that can be dished out.

Boy do I love being a Cardinals fan. It gives me an excuse to stay drunk.

Where's the accountability? Who takes the blame? I'm sick of hearing the emotionless spin.

This franchise can't be run any worse. I'm shocked at their ineptitude.

Nothing they can say will win back most Cardinal fans until this team wins (which doesn't appear likely in my lifetime. It will be a long time before I trust this front office again.

Suicidal move by Mac in his final year.

Well, you trade-down guys - Like the trade-off of Suggs vs. Johnson/Pace now?

Disgusting.

If you are going to trade down for 1st rounders, then draft 1st rounders. Not 2nd round players that you could have had anyway.

Everyone in the friggin planet had called, and expected, a run on defensive lineman . . . how did this come as a surprise?

WHAT ROCK HAS THIS ORGANIZATION BEEN UNDER FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS?

Exactly what you said....They even gave a number of 13-15 top tier players. There was even an article about how the SAINTS sitting at 17 and 18 were going to lose out on the top tier. How it sucked to have those picks this year, and not be able to capatilize on them.

Also how players ranked 17-49 were basically the same.

Yet the cards trade for those picks.

And don't even take players ranked in the top 49

Ridiculous

It is fair. When you trade down the big risk is that someone else takes the guys you want before your new selection. This is exactly what happened and exactly why you don't run a risk of going down that far. The move to 10 would have made sense, but not a move to 17.

I've never watched most of these kids play till they are in the NFL. FRom thier size and speed they match well with kids rated higher. It's a crap shoot. Marcel Shipp not even drafted?

WE wont have as much problems with big time money for big time problems Wadsworth. Simeon Rice never wanted to be here. Maybe we develope these kids and keep them after they move on up in ability.

I don't know how this works out. I do know that the chance of these two being good is as good as any kid moving up to better compitition in the NFL. I will root hard for our new Cards.
