Nash really does try on defense, but he's too slow to be much help. Most teams keeep running picks until they can get isolated on Nash and thn attack. Leadrno is getting better, but he still struggles. My hope is that in their search for a new PG they get someone who can defend.

Again, when he has the legs, he could play nasty defense and nail the clutch shots, as shown in Denver game.

Now LB showed great signs to hold the PG post just fine with Nash sitting, and playing much better defense at the same time, we should give Nash more rest from mid 3rd to mid 4th qrts.

diaw is actually a pretty good defender, especially considering his size.
I've never understood this comment.

Pretty good, especially considering his size . . . still leaves him steps behind when defending a Center or Power Forward who is better than pretty good and the appropriate height and weight for his position.

It comes down to one-on-one. You're either better than your matched opponent or you're not.

Charles Barkley was criticized for not making defense part of his game. When you're 6' 4 1/2" going against guys who are 6'9" or taller, every game is an uphill fight on defense.

Same with Amare defending legitimate Centers for three years. If you can't beat them on defense, devote your energy to offense.

Still looks like the suns cant guard the '2'. It may be worse than before considering the two games since raja left. Raja wouldnt let Roy drop 50, and that was an easy 50, almost no fighting through the screens. I dont know if the suns have the players to play good D.

No...Raja would let Roy drop 50. Raja was letting everyone sans 3 games this season drop everything on him.

Agree that the Suns might not have the right players but they didn't before the trades either.

Who is you? Shaq? And he should man up in zone defense? I sure can't make sense out of it. :bang:

In a zone defense, the C needs to be able to extend all the way to the corner. Something that Shaq doesn't do.

Shaq is a problem in the zone defense too.

Food for thought Shaq....

Considering all the offensive fouls Nash draws off ball, I would excuse him for not being able to get them on the ball. The big problem is Team D when Shaq and Amare are on the floor at the same time. Just watch the defensive energy the Celtics have with someone like KG. I believe the word is scrappy! Maybe the coach is not to blame. Players need to get on themselves and each other a little more. The offense spoils them IMO.

Cartright had a reputation for being able to work with inside guys. So far I'm not seeing it, but early days.

Amare has not yet overcome his reputation as a foul magnate. It is very hard to have him get into foul trouble on ticky tacks because he's such a power as a shooter and rebounder. It sure didn't help when he missed early camp with his injury.
