oh, puleeze Amare. You were the first one that wanted to run the previous coach out of town. And don't you know that you cannot win championships with a "playground" atmosphere?

Anyone else starting to dislike Amare?

Guys a douchebag to fans..

Throws dantoni under the bus for not playing good D..

Has had a pretty bad year, considering all the "work" he put in the offseason..

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

So Amare - after being one of the players leading the charge on getting rid of DA - now longs for the good ol' days!?!?! And recognizes that DA had so much to do with his production as he makes Lee look good now?!?!?

Mother.......

Get this guy out of here STAT (pun intended) that just sealed the deal for me. Let him become a star somewhere wlse and I don't give a crap. I;m done with this guy and his nonchalant attitude. What kind of lack of accountability.

Blow up the team and fire Steve Kerr and Porter. But start with that knucklehead. He's not a guy you want in the fox hole with you....

Never thought I would say this but thank god for the Cardinals.

ok, having said that - who are they supposed to build their team around? a bunch of 34+ year olds?

If they do trade him, they better get some young talent in return.

Exactly. If we don't get a stud young kid back then this entire last 7 years was a waste.

No way. I will fire Kerr myself if he trades Amare.

Kerr you are fired. Career suicide. and if you don't need the job anyway-if that is your attitude-you shouldn't have the final say on these decisions.

Based on what you've done so far, you should be very cautious about your next big player move.

The elephant in the room has always been Amare's defense. Players that are driven to win play good defense. Defense is all about attitude and effort. Amare has always wanted to be the man but he doesn't have what it takes to step up and make it happen.

He's slowly turning into the next Derrick Coleman.

Oooh! Good call on the DC comparison!

I had been comparing him to a less driven Wilkins or Durant, but that is even better! The only problem is that Coleman still rebounded better!!!!

Anyone look at the CBS poll? "What was the Suns' biggest mistake?"

Trading Marion for Shaq is leading. What the hell? Are people not paying attention to what Shaq is doing this year? And what Marion is doing in Miami? What a joke.

What was the Suns' biggest mistake?

32% Trading Shawn Marion for Shaq

29% Letting Mike D'Antoni leave

11% Replacing D'Antoni with Terry Porter

11% Trading Bell and Diaw for J Rich

17% Naming Steve Kerr as president

Despite his recent struggles, I like Amare and his game. I think they would have a better shot with him than without, unless we get a steal for him...

That's exactly the dilemma. It'd be franchise suicide to cast him off just for cap space what NY is doing, since our management has no credibility any more Collangelo's Suns had and wouldn't be able to lure the best talent to town by then.

Also, Nash really looks old by now and even we were to get Garnett for Amare, I'd not think we had a chance to win anything.

The elephant in the room has always been Amare's defense. Players that are driven to win play good defense. Defense is all about attitude and effort. Amare has always wanted to be the man but he doesn't have what it takes to step up and make it happen.

Amare's intellect is not of the smartest. He is just myopic and often just says what everybody else is saying and self-grandinizing above that. However, Amare's weakness on defense could be well enough protected in a right environment, for a team to be successful, ya even win a championship.

Besides effort and attitude, defense requires skill and experience which Amare really lacks for now. But, when shove comes to push, effort and attitude can compensate a lot for lack of skill and experience. Yet, it's hard to main it so all the time, in particular if the player is not motivated like in a playoff situation or good chemistry on the team.

DC never gave a damn for defense. Amare showed that he could be OK if motivated. That's quite a huge difference.

The Suns got the best end of the trade right now. I wonder if Riley would want him back now that he is rehabbed?

Too bad the Suns do not play well around the big guy.

How is "giving Kurt Thomas, James Jones and the team's future away" not one of the options?

Penny-pinching at signing Salmons and ending up with Banks instead ranks for me as the most costly blunder of Sarver's area so far. Despite all our defenciencies, we might have won a title over Spurs in the infamous altercation suspension season with Salmons instead of Banks in the lineup.

Penny pinching? You do realize that Banks got a ridiculous contract, right?

Actually I think Salmons had a spiritual moment as I recall and chose the Kings. I don't think it was about money but he did get a decent contract.

It was a mistake then and it is now. You traded your best defensive player for a guy who did not fit the system and players on your team. Yes he has had a good first half of the year... but lets not forget, he's taking off many games and its still just halfway through the year. Who is to say he wont break down or slow up as the year winds done? Not to mention the 20 million price tag. If he continues to play at this level the facts still remain that the team is divided between the slow down feed the post faction and the run and gun one. If you were able to completely retool around Shaq then thats another story but that takes time. A lot more time than he has left.

Bottom line is... you were contenders when the big change came. No, you did not make the finals prior, but you were in the hunt. Now your not even in the playoffs. So it baffles me why you would feel it odd that people would say it was the biggest mistake. The poll was not asking who between the two has played better. It was what was Suns biggest mistake.... and bringing in Shaq (without retooling) was it. Also, do not forget there was no indication that Shaq would come back this year as good as he has.... so completely retooling around him would have been a gamble at best.
