I do think Mo Bamba is going to be a great center in this league too. I still like Ayton #1, but I would take Bamba #2.

I'm starting to think that way. His recent workout and speed trials is amazing.

I would not at all be surprised to see Sacramento go that way. Then they can find out if Bamba = Hasheem Thabeet, or Bamba = Alonzo Mourning.

Hmm I
Best pick.
In the best draft in 20 years.
Where the clear-cut best player (yes) fits the team's needs perfectly.

Oh. And we have the #16, #31, and #59 picks where those picks will nab a player that is equivalent to #10, #20, and mid second in most other drafts.
Hmm i think the best draft talk really focuses on the top 10 players or so. I think the talent quickly drops off thereafter and becomes normalized to other drafts at the same positions. I’ve read that too, that the strength of this draft is the high-end depth at the top, not so much the depth throughout. So I disagree that the 16, 31, and 59 equate to 10, 20, and mid-2nd in other drafts.

Bamba likely closer to mutumbo than mourning imo
I would agree, as a floor. I think his offense could develop though. The kid has the body, he is smart, confident, and very determined. That is the kind of prospect you are not wise to bet against.

There WILL be a star available at #16.
I’m not saying the Suns will choose that guy but he will be there.

Any mystery about Ayton not going #1 is removed as I view it.

But he’s certain he’ll be the first named called by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

“I know I’m going Number 1,” Ayton said after his workout with the Suns Wednesday.

To accentuate that point, Ayton said he won’t work out for any other team before the draft.

“This is my one and only workout,” he said

Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough described Ayton’s workout as “phenomenal.”....

“He showed us what we expected to see,” McDonough said. “The way he shot the ball was pretty impressive. Not many 7-1 guys with that length and strength can step away from the basket and make shots. He did some of it at Arizona, but that wasn’t his role. You didn’t get to see him on the perimeter. Today he shot the NBA 3 pretty comfortably. He had really good form, touch and rotation on the ball. For a guy his size, that was a little bit unique.”

So we should field a starting four of PG, Booker, Jackson and Ayton?

Name me the starting point guard and we are good to go. With Ayton starting a dominating power forward may not be as necessary.

I really like Ayton's high release on his shot. No one is going to block those. He has plenty of time to work on the mechanics of his 3 point shooting at NBA range.

I meant in terms of Thabeet being a bust as the second pick, and Mourning being a success... picked right after Shaq in 92 draft, much like going right after Ayton in this draft. Hopefully, Ayton will have a Shaq-like career.

If that analogy holds, Doncic ends up being Christian Laettner... which I can totally see. Way overhyped, and competent but forgettable career.

I just hope he doesn't think he's going to be Kevin Durant. I want him playing down low for us the majority of the time.

I refuse to consider anyone but Grayson Allen for the role of Christian Laettner. :)
