Gambo was saying on 620 (not that him saying anything means anything) that Cleveland was going to throw in their 2009 First Rounder as well, that must've made the deal awfully hard to turn down. I think the Front Office is crazy if they're wanting to keep this team together because they have championship aspirations this year. If they could've gotten relief from Shaqs deal (with out taking on Wallaces extra year, but getting Wally instead) and a 1st round pick (they need as many of those as they can get) that would've been awfully hard for me to turn down.

Maybe, but I'm not sure how much Clevland's 09 First Rounder is really worth. It's probably going to be a late pick (low 20's), and is a 3 year guarnateed contract. In this economy and market, I think high second round picks are worth more that late first rounders, since they can negotiate the contracts (ie, Dragic).

Sarver turned down that deal because Cleveland tried to give us a first rounder. We all know that Sarver doesn't want that guaranteed contract;).

Cleveland's first round pick would be too late to be worth much so I'm glad the Suns did not send Shaq to them for an expiring contract and a late pick. Also, if you forget about the failed Porter experiment, maybe the Suns are legitimate contenders. They do have the talent.

Well I'd imagine if you were to shed Shaqs contracts for expiring deals like Wallys, a 1st round guaranteed deal wouldn't be back breaking financially.

I'm not sure Shaq is the answer for Cleveland but to do nothing with over 20 million in expiring is criminal. They have 1.5 years to win before Lebron leaves.
