Gregor Jordan Adapting The Tripods Trilogy
Source: Variety
January 5, 2005

Australian-born director Gregor Jordan (Buffalo Soldiers, Ned Kelly) will rewrite and direct the adaptation of John Christopher's The Tripods Trilogy for Touchstone Pictures, reports Variety.

The three books in the trilogy - "The White Mountains," "The City of Gold and Lead" and "The Pool of Fire" - feature a "Star Wars"-like storyline set in the 21st century. "The White Mountains" was first published in 1967.

In the books, Tripods have conquered Earth and enslaved the human race by implanting a mind-controlling device in the heads of everyone over 15. The books tell the story of a boy and two of his friends who race to overthrow the Tripods before they must undergo the capping ritual.

Never heard of this trilogy before, but I'm glad to see Hollywood doing some sci-fi/fantasy movies based on books, rather than churning out more remakes. :D

Yay!

I absolutely loved these books as a high-schooler. I haven't read them in about nine years (wow - getting old) but I remember thinking that they'd make great movies.

Holy crap! I thought you were incarcerated or something!

I haven't seen you around here since before the football season.

Hope everything is cool with you! Welcome back!

I was stuck in Los Angeles from July - December on a job w/o internet connection. I missed all of the ASFN fun and what looked to be some pretty great home games.

I'm back at an internet-friendly job, though. Thanks for the welcome!

I read those when I was a kid. They were very good . . . think there was a prequel, as well.

The Tripods Trilogy is AWESOME!

I remember we read the first one in class.

It was soooo GREAT that I got the other two from the library and read them.

However it has been awhile and I have forgoten much of it.
