Abraham!!! He is a complete bad ass and they cast the perfect guy in Michael Cudlitz. I am so glad he came in this early.

See, this was a good episode. Shows direct aftermath of the battle without simply dropping off the face of the earth, and it does so without being overly action-packed. Now if the writers had resisted the urge to muck it up and put this episode first and the Rick/Carl episode second, it would have made MUUUUUUUUCH more sense and would have been good. Well, the whiny Carl crap wouldn't have been, but still.

So last week's sucked, but this week's was pretty good.

This show lost me when it started focusing on the awful blonde chick character and the awful Governor. I'll have to keep tabs on what you all are saying about this season and the setting change to decide if its worth tuning in again.

Wish they had spent a little more money or a bit more time on their casting choices though. There are very few characters on that show that I cared one way or the other if they lived or died. Daryl, Hershel were well acted and written, and for a while Glenn was an interesting character but once he got a romance story line that character took an extreme turn into a one dimensional realm.

Great last episode. Moved the story along while touching on the aftermath in the right amount IMO.

Slow episode with a bit of good suspense with Rick.

BPSB - Big potenial spoiler below.

Pretty sure that the group Rick encountered are the Cannibals. Which leads the interesting question, who are they going to caputure and eat? In the comic it was the one legged Dale. I am betting on either Tara or Tyrese

This episode was okay. Eye rolling at times, fun as hell at others.

The doctor/professor is hilarious. He isn't actually a doctor or professor, IMO, or if he is, he's loopier than a hula hoop. Well, he's that loopy either way.

Are you sure you want to know?
He is a High School Chemistry teacher lying about it all.

I absolutely hate how they focus on just one group each show...and not only that, nothing exciting or even meaningful happens in 3/4 of the show.

At least they brought Christian Serratos into the show. She's smoking hot, there's no other way to put it.

I thought is was an above average episode. We got a chance to see Beth and Daryl both open up and develop thier characters a bit.

Since neither were in the comic, it also helps keep the show from catching up to the comic.

While Darryl was throwing darts, he threw one at a picture of a dude on the wall. The guy looked a lot like Negan. Could it be? And if so, he makes the Governor look like a boy scout. Also, last nights episode was a tad unrealistic. Beth is what, 115 soaking wet? She has 4 or so shots of moonshine, which is about 200 proof, and she is barely buzzed. After drink #4 she should have been passed out cold or puking.

I am going to have to go back and take a look.

Maybe Lucille is around too.

Yep. Look, about 1/4 of this episode was good. Killer good. The rest was effing-shoot-me-in-the-head-yes-that's-pun-intented boring. An entire episode focused around that was just plain lazy writing. Again. Thankfully I had a lot of chores I could do while hanging around the TV, marking time until the real episode parts were on.

Yea and if they continue this BS, they will lose viewers quickly.

One of the main reasons Walking Dead was so successful in its first few seasons was because it was so exciting most of the time.

Now their trying to drag it out as if they ran out of story lines. Even next week's promo looked like it will be again focusing on just one group while they walk around.

It was a great two person episode...not as good as the fly episode of breaking bad, but very good IMO.

Show is about humans...this was human.

I think many want the show to be something different than it is and since day 1 they have sprinkled these episodes in and I enjoy them.

I have not been a fan of episodes that do nothing to further the plot line in this show because they happen to often. This episode teetered on boring for me. I thought there were some very important character development here but I can't help but feel this could have been a secondary storyline in a bigger story. Decent episode but if it hadn't been for Daryl's character being featured, I probably would have been pissed.

Agree, and Double agree. I absolutely loved that episode. Very human and back to basic character building of the show. I knew it wouldn't be everyones cup of tea but I thought it was outstanding. Especially Darrell's character, he's been completely dead as a character since the Sophia episode, which was understandable but it was time for him to come back to life and I thought they did that perfectly. Beth had been nothing but the cute girl who sits around singing occasionally and she did a lot of growing up in this episode too.

What are there supposed to be tanks and all out warfare firefights in every episode? Because if that's what happens with this show I will lose interest quickly.

Loved this episode, just as I loved the Morgan (4 character, one focus) episode last season.

yeah...definitely could have worked as a B plot a lot better, but Daryl is one of the only interesting characters in the show as far as I'm concerned at this point, thus I wasn't all that bored.

as to plot...is there really a plot on this show?

Exactly. Same thing that dragged down half of a season of Battlestar Galactica (can't remember which season). In Battlestar, they every once in a while had those little 'slice of life' episodes in the fleet. Those were awesome--until, for budget purposes, they ran a bunch of them back to back.

In Walking Dead, the writers abandon other plot lines and drag material out far, far too long every other episode, pretty much. This isn't to say we need tanks (that was incredibly stupid writing), or gunfire, or anything spectacular on an episode-by-episode basis. I, and others, just don't want a grind-to-a-hault snooze fest for 3/4 of every other episode.

And believe you me, I can totally dig slow plotting and character development. One of my favorite shows is I, Claudius. This show is just so very hit and miss, because the writers are freaking schizophrenic.

Yeah...I should have said story arc instead of plot.

Its almost as if the writers are running out of material.
