Great start to the season. Maybe the darkest episode of the series thus far?

Walking dead tweeted out that next week we meet King Ezekiel. I guess on talking dead they said the next episode will be a lot lighter. I would say duh, I mean, anything is lighter than what we just went through. I am curious to see whats going on in that kingdom. In the trailers they make it sound like the king tells Morgan and Carol that they are not to tell anyone about that place but there is no way that rick and the group do not reuinite with Carol and Morgan, possibly with king Ezekials men and jesus become the new Rick group? This is crazy.

Glad I taped it. That episode was beyond dark. It was sadistically brutal to the point of redundancy. I skimmed over some parts.

BTW Lauren Cohan looked extremely voluptuous on After Dark. Is she auditioning?

Wimp!

I'm a horror fan so while it was totally brutal, nothing I couldn't watch. It was only tough because I loved the characters

That was brutal, hard to watch. I am sure the rest of the season will be like the Mary Tyler Moore Show. o_O

It was a great episode, especially since they didn't really have opportunity to move the plot further than what had basically already happened at the end of S6. JDM's performance managed to stretch a whole episode out of what could very easily veer into caricature.

Not that the show is lacking in suspension of disbelief, but I do occasionally have to wonder about characters like his or, say, Ramsey Bolton in GoT - how they could seriously stay in power without being killed by any number of people in a fit of rage.

This is why him pointing out that Rick was still "looking" at him – before forcing him to almost cut off Carl's arm in the perversion of the Abraham-Isaac moment – was clever. An authoritarian figure like him is probably paranoid and good at reading people, so it would be difficult to wait for your moment to strike without giving yourself away.

It may be because I was so bitter after the Cards game that I thought the death scenes had no impact. They pussyfootted around with it for so long and those ridiculous flashes of each potential victim in the beginning of the episode really bugged the crap out of me.

Yeah I wish they opened up with Neegan saying the final words of eenie meenie then immediately start crushing skulls within 5 seconds.

I disliked this episode.

The victim was the one I predicted.

The rest of the episode was just way too much gore for my taste and basically no plot at all.

It set the tone for the season and showed you how serious of a threat Negan is. To me, that was a lot of plot setting and tone setting wrapped up in one big show. It is meant to get you emotional about what is coming soon.

It is a survival horror show, been very very gory quite often. I guess when horror becomes mainstream people expect it to be sanitized a little bit.

The flashbacks of each character i think was just in ricks head as he was losing his poo on top of the RV.

Correct. He was going over what would happen if he didn't capitulate.

My wife has officially quit the show (she says) because she doesn't like how she feels after she watches pretty much every episode.
